Default A nice surprise!

A friend stopped by today saying she had heard I was into old sewing machines. There on the porch was an old case. When I asked what kind it was, she said she didn't know, lets open it!

It turned out to be a Brother. How fun! It's a lovely minty shade of green and although it may have been around for awhile, it looks hardly used at all. (The case has seen much better days)

Someone posted recently a pic of a machine with the sticker still on the stop motion clamp. This one has that also and bits of cardboard under the screws in some places. The inside is incredibly clean. The real "tell" will be once I go to clean the bobbin area ad we see what's inside. From just the little peek I took, it appears very clean and shiny.

That's probably one of the last models you can trust for vintage Brother as the later models started adding plastic internal camstacks that are very prone to breaking. It looks to be in great condition. http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...s-t238134.html

I love finding a machine in that kind of shape but more often than not there is some minor little thing wrong with it. If you mess around you may find something. Once you get them working they are fabulous machines.

Well yeah there are a couple tiny things. The spool pin is bent, the tension for the bobbin winder if off the machine. It's missing the screw but I am sure I must have one, and the cord has a tiny piece of tape. Weighing and measuring that against the bulk of the hoard, it's pretty minor. I'm hoping there are no BIG surprises. The price was good though!
