I bought a Phaff Tiptronic 2020. I LOVE it, but the lever in back of the pressure foot that helps feed the fabric from the top won't lift up like it shows in the manual. I don't want to force it, I'm afraid I'll break something. Any ideas? Also the lift lever that lifts the pressure foot sometimes will hang and I have to pull it towards me just a tad and it will then let the pressure foot down. Does anyone know what these two issues may be caused from.

I hope it's just a small problem. I only gave 75.00 for the machine, and every thing else works like a charm.

To disengage the IDT, you have to pull down, then toward the back.

We have the same issue as you on the presser foot levers on both of our Pfaffs. It just seems like there's a lot of play in them.

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. Maybe I just wasn't pulling down hard enough.

The presser foot can be arrested half way down when you are doing free motion quilting: it is no fault! Do you have a manual?

Hoping that 1000scraps has shown you how to work the "levers" and that it fixes your problem. You do have to work them properly to get them to work as they should. Recently I had a problem with my Pfaff 7550. The foot would not stay flat on the machine bed ... it had some vertical play in it so it wouldn't hold the fabric flat on the bed. Turned out the spring in the foot mechanism had to be replaced. I suppose it had just worn out.

You got an unbelievable deal at $75.. that walking foot lever is the best walking foot out there. Take it in for service and i bet your dealer will fix that lever..

Thanks everyone for the information. I do have a manual for it, just haven't had time to sit down and read through it. I did read about pulling down on the lever to disengage the duel feed. Maybe I just didn't pull down hard enough.

Thank you everyone. I went out to my sewing studio a little while ago and I just wasn't pulling down hard enough on the duel feed lever. I did get it to disengage. I really love my little phaff.

This machine belonged to a quilter because if you will notice to the right of the throat there is a sticker that tells how much fabric for backing for different sized quilts. It also came with a 1/4 inch quilting foot that was bought extra. It has all the original accessories. The only thing it didn't have was a manual. I ordered one for it.
