That's why it looks strange to me. I had not noticed that is was originally a treadle. That explains the odd light fixture.

All the treadle parts are still there. I'd yank that electrical stuff off and return it to what it's supposed to be.

So would I Joe. That grey motor and strap really looks rubbish. You'd think they could at least have used a black Singerlight. Treadle and stand light (or a Singer industrial light) would be perfect.
I'd love a W&W 9. Just missed out on a cheap one a few months ago on eek-bay.

I've got two of the Singer 9W-7s and from what little I've gotten to use them I think they are better treadle machines than the 66s or 15s.

One of mine has no home right now cos the cabinet was badly damaged. I haven't been able to finish fixing it. The other is out in the garage. I'm trying to rearrange the house to bring it in. I wanna use it.

They're definitely more common in the states. We get a few American non-Singer brands but not many. I did bid on the eBay machine but after I confirmed the bid eBay's spinning wheel just spun for 16 seconds then told me the auction had ended! I was very upset, particularly as it went for something like $10!

Sounds like us. Being on dial up, we bit earlier than we'd like to and usually get out bid at the last moment.

Seems everyone uses "sniping" services these days. I placed a $20 bid on a Singer boat shuttle and was winning until the last 10 seconds when it shot up to $55 at auction end. I think the one sniper shot the other in the foot.
