Default Pheasant Decal Singer Probably Heading My Way

Almost a done deal- waiting for a final phone call. Got my fingers and toes crossed. Found a nice Pheasant Singer treadle online thats almost 3 1/2 hours away and after trying to put it out of my mind for days, I finally yielded to temptation and called. It's really too far for me to drive due to bad knees, but was going to try the trip. The gentleman was willing to ship just the head, but hated to part it out since it was his Grammy's. I hated the thought of it too, not to mention the risk of damage. On the off chance I asked if he knew anyone who was traveling my way and he'd just made a deal for selling some mechanical parts to someone who lives only an hour away from me. And he'll accept PayPal! So- tomorrow I'll know if this weekend I can drive a little over 2 hours round trip instead of 7! I'm thrilled the gentleman is so nice. I'll need to remind him to remove the head and drawers. Total cost will be about $100. Scary to spend so much without being able to see it in person, but I'm blaming it on the overabundance of sunshine causing March Madness. This Group has been a wonderfully bad influence on me. I now want almost every machine I see, and really can't afford to buy any of them. Even the crappiest machine and cabinet seem be a candidate for rehabilitation through some of you miracle workers. This one looks to be in very good shape, so I'm trying to believe it will all work out. I'll ask the seller to include a note about his Grammy so I can keep some history with the machine. I'd like to name it Millie for my Mom, or maybe Eunice for my Great Aunt who taught me to treadle many years ago. Til now I've only named some of my cars- the Tomato Soup Can (orangish red VW Squareback), The Great Pumpkin (orange Volvo Wagon).
I haven't found much about the Pheasant Singers online, but I don't think the birds really look like pheasants at all. Don't think I'll sleep much tonight.

So, did the call come? Is it yours? I seem to remember the pheasant decals being not as common. Please post pics when/if you get the machine.

And yes, we on the board proudly claim the title 'Enabler'

The Pheasant decals are not very common...so if you got a decent machine for about $100, then you got a good deal IMO!

Can't wait to see pics! I agree that they don't look much like pheasants...I thought they looked more like a partridge, without the "topknot"!

Well, hope you get this machine without having to drive so far. Sounds like you got a good deal on it. I am going after a Davis VF in a treadle next weekend, and I'll have to drive about 5 hours round trip to get it. Not looking forward to the drive, but the lady has held the machine for over 2 months for me, and I need to go get it. I'm excited, too!!

Crud! Everything was fine when I spoke w/ the seller this am, was going to call me by 3 pm to confirm the other gentleman had room in his truck. I've made two calls an hour apart- both go to voicemail. It's almost 5 pm- guess he sold it to someone else. I told him I'd buy it whether or not the Pony express worked out. Guess I'll go torment some weeds.

At 5:20 pm EST the Pheasant is on it's on it's way! Seller just called- said he was too busy to call sooner. I did PayPal while he was on his computer and he gave me the courier's phone # and name. I'll contact the Good Samaritan in the morning and pick it up sometime this weekend. Whew! I was Sure I'd been skunked and was working on forgetting the whole thing. Stewing over crud is just a waste of time- but I admit I gave myself an hour to really steam about it. I'll post a pic when I get it home. I'd do a Happy Dance but with my knees I'd fall and not get up. Maybe I'll just hum a bit- don't think I can get hurt doing it. Need to head to JoAnns for some fabric I promised someone.

JlJack- have a safe trip, and do a Happy Dance for both of us!
