Default Pointless search? Walking Foot for Slant Shank?

I want a Singer walking foot for my 404. Is there such a creature for the slant needle machines?

Sorry if this has been covered a million times, I wasn't having any luck searching the forum.

Whew, not too late to edit. I mean a vintage one, I know there are some places to get today's version, sorry I wasn't specific, thanks

I am sure there is a generic slanted walking foot.

There is a vintage Singer slant shank walking foot but it's for zig zag machines. I know Singer never made a walking foot for a 301 so it's not too much of a stretch to say I don't think they made one for a 404.

I'd just use one for the 401 (zigzag) if you really want one. Just a slant shank walking foot - you can get then new or vintage. At least they are way, way, WAY cheaper than the black Singer walking foot for the short shank machines!

Are you saying that there is a "today's version" for the Singer 404 slant? I thought the ones with a number 5 in a circle on the side were for slant machines. Since my slant machines are the older ones, I think I'd better try them out.

AFAIK, the slant shank walking feet, whether new or old, are for zig zag machines. You may be able to get one to sort of work on a straight stitch machine but I doubt if it will work properly. The teeth of the walking foot won't line up with the feed dogs.

I have a walking foot for a slant-needle machine for a Touch 'N Sew, and it does fit on my 403A, which is a zig-zag machine. I haven't spent a lot of time trying to use it. I've also seen them in the product lists at Sew Classic. I think if it's compatible with one slant-needle machine, it would work for the 404!

I have a walking foot for my singer 503A and I got it on ebay. You might try there.
