Adding Singer Lubricant?? 201
 

The instruction manual that comes with it explains that the grease cups need to be filled about once a year, and there is even a diagram that shows the location of the grease cups. My problem is that the diagram and my machine don't appear to be the same. In the diagram, the grease cups are below the large side wheel, and it shows that it needs to be tilted to fill the cups. But my machine doesn't seem to have these grease cups at all, or at least not in this location.

Not sure where to add this Lub. Cleaned and all the other areas and if thats any indication, I think I need to add so lub, just cant find where?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The two grease cups are located under the bobbin winder of the machine .They point downward and have two large caps -black with rough edges. they extend down and look like a tube 1/2 inch in length. There are two of them. The other is closer to the motor housing. The caps need to be taken off, and grease forced in. Use a lot of grease, because it is forced into the housing where the gears of the motor meet the main driveshaft. Hope this helps. I'll send a picture if you need one.

Can you post pictures of your machine with one showing the handwheel end and one from the other end.
These can help us figure out what machine you have.
If you don't have the grease cups, you probably don't have the -91 version of the model 15.

I will for sure add a pic. Just not sure of what? Would these caps be on the underside of the machine when I turn it on its side? I see a couple of large round caps....and only have a little tube of the motor stuff :) Ahhh.

And that belt that is on the wheel end seems a bit hard with a few hairline cracks in the rubber. Is that something I should replace? I wouldn't know where to start with that. I hope it is a not broken - don't fix kinda of scenario! As I mentioned, the machine sews real nice...I just want to take loving care of it...it must have so much history of the many items which were sewn under its needle! Wish it could talk.

Nice machine. You have a 201-3 , not a 15-91. There are no grease cups under the handwheel because there are no gears in that area. On this machine you need grease in the two 'gear pots' under the bed of the machine and in the lube ports at each end of the motor.

If the belt works, no need to replace it right now.

Thanks so much! Once you mentioned it is a 201-3. I looked at the manual online. I found all the areas.... The big ones under the machine need oil and the two ports on the motor need lub. Do I have that right?

You are a lifesaver. I think I will have to add to my collection after this!!

The "big ones" under the machines need gease as those "big ones' are gears. The grease sticks to the gears and therefore continues to lub if you oil gears they will throw the oil off when turning fast. This will leave them without lubrication. And yes, the two ports on the motor need lub.
