Anyone have a Pfaff 1222 E in an original case?
 

My friend has given me her Pfaff 1222 E on long term loan with the option to buy it sometime before she dies (she always says she is dying. She isn't. :rolleyes:) She gave me the machine and the case and 2 boxes and 2 bags of the attachments and assorted parts for the machine. She said she didn't want the machine to get scratched up by all the stuff in the case, so she kept it all separate.She does this to every machine she gets. I told her if she does decide to die her DH was going to call BFI to bring a dumpster because nobody would be able to figure out what part went with what machine. I had to make 2 trips to her house because I was missing accessories for the Pfaff - even bobbins!.

I'm of the opposite opinion, in that everything is going to get lost if it isn't all kept together. I have everything back in the case except the slide on bed extension. I don't know how it goes in the case. If someone could help me I would really appreciate it.

I'd be curious to know this too...I've got this machine and I didn't think the extension bed fits in the case.

No, the slide - on extension does not fit in the case. I lost mine during a move - poof! gone after all these years. Take good care of it, they are no longer available. I love my 1222E - I keep my accessories in a zip lock bag, in the sewing cabinet drawer :) - my family would have the same problem not knowing what to do with all the sewing stuff.

Well, that is just stupid manufacturing and design.

I can get past it only because this machine is so freaking sweet! I love the built in walking foot. It is making the quilting for the quilt from Hades almost bearable. Most of it is straight line or STID and it just waltzes over it. Now I really want a Juki industrial with a walking foot!

I always kept mine in the case, On it's side, on side of machine, I'll try to take pics if I can later today.

I don't know how it goes in the case, either, but will be finding out--probably try beside it in the case--under the machine? Moving soon. Anyway, I never worry about that as mine stays out to use all the time for basting to frame leaders and binding the 100 quilts for American Hero Quilts in 12 months!! I am proud!

What age is this model machine? I am working out of town for the next couple of days, but have the absolute heaviest Pfaff made in the 60's, has original case and the extension table, bought it to sell, but have not advertised it and it also has lots of attachments and the original manual (which the front cover has turned brown from age). It sews very well, but I am amazed by the weight, made of total metal not plastic. Is this anything similiar to what you are asking about? When I returned home, if you will e-mail me, will be happy to attempt to help you with the extension table.

No, this model Pfaff was made in the 70's.

I own the Pfaff 1222 and it is a wonderful machine that should last you the rest of your life. You are very luck to get such a good machine. If you can buy it you should. .. if you have a question let me know.... (I don't post often because

I have the Pfaff 1222E and what a workhorse! Very powerful and I love the walking foot. I also have a Bernina, Janome Horizon, Singer 99 and Featherweight and use the Pfaff for very heavy duty sewing. It has more power than all my machines put together. I bought it in a thrift store with all the attachments in mint condition for $10.00. I have the it all together in the case.

I love my Pfaff 1222E with the built in walking foot, great straight stitches, and it has the best needle threader. I made my first quilt with it. After using the Pfaff, I would never be without an IDF. It's the reason I purchased the Babylock Quest Plus.

The extension table fits in a special gizmo and as soon as I find my camera and some space I'll post pictures.
Absolutly the best machine ever ... went back to it after buying Janome 4800 ... could not pull it out of sync like the Janome. Only thing that stiches better is my granma's Singer 201.

I have a 1222E. I have a picture of the plastic tray thingy that slides in under the free arm to hold the extension table and foot pedal so it all goes nicely in the case. The foot pedal goes in the front part of the plastic tray thingy.

I bought mine new in 1978 and it has been my go to machine ever since! I put my accessories in a plastic box, and in the case with the machine. It sews through almost anything and with the IDT is always on the mark. I would just buy a bigger accessory box and call it wonderful!

Ah ha! I have the little box thing. I figured out the foot control went in the front. I thought, wrongly, the manuals went in the back. Now I see the error of my ways and will try it the proper way. I am really liking this machine. The needle threader is messed up but I'm still able to thread the needle by hand.

Do the new Pfaff's with IDT feed as well as the older models? I know the 1222 E is a workhorse but what about the rest of them? I don't want a computerized one but I know they make mechanical machines with the IDT. If they feed as well as the 1222 I may save up and buy a new one or a newer one. This 1222 E is 33 years old. Yes, it has been taken care of, but she has also used the dog water out of it too. It can't last forever. Or can it?

I used to have this machine and loved it!! Made a big mistake when I traded it in. Enjoy!

Would you be willing to sell one of your THREE Pfaff 1222E machines??? My husband is from Canada (Quebec)... We MIGHT be taking a trip up there this Summer. :)

My Pfaff has a plastic tray that slides in when you put it away. The extension table and the foot control fit into the tray perfectly and the case closes with no problem. I love my 1222e, but she is ill today. Took the foot pedal apart to clean it (it was hesitating) and now I only have one speed, extremely slow. Hopefully I can get it repaired quickly.
