Better Than Bubble Wrap!
As I get used to sewing machines in cases, dealing with the foot controller has become an issue. Solution? Bubble wrap? NO!
I have discovered a great solution. Caroline S. told me I had to share. Use the foot section of an old sock!! My DH loves wool socks but wears out the heels. I love my machines but don't love how the foot controller's bubble wrap winds up on the floor somewhere beyond reach. I love less the scratches left on the finish when the foot controller slides around when shoved in the machine's throat. When I cut off the calf section of the sock, the foot portion creates a perfect bag for holding cords and scratchy foot controllers. My machine is safe from scratches and I know where all the bits are for a quick connect. |
I was using a polymesh dollar store placemat (to prevent foot pedal runaway) wrapped around the pedal, etc., and will now wrap it around the pedal sock "sack". Good idea- thank you.

Thank you what a great idea.

I made little sacks with draw strings out of terry cloth for my FW machines. At first I thought you were talking about the pedal slipping around on the floor. For that I use the textured rubber stuff (comes on a roll) that goes in the cabinets under the dishes and glasses. Just put it under the pedal or I've taped it to the bottom of the pedal. Works great

I've made a couple small bags for the controllers and cords from black felt. Works great.
The sock idea is very good as well, and a lot less work. Joe |
Hummmmm, I love the sock idea! I will try it with my DH's next pair that develop a hole in the heel!

:thumbup::thumbup: I told you it was a great idea! Now I won't feel guilty tossing old socks, re-purpose, re-use.

You know those socks you get in the hospital with the grippers on the bottom? I am going to try your idea with one of those. Thanks
