Check out my new baby!! A Singer Redeye 66-1 Treadle!! And what is my bonus?
 

I picked this baby up a couple of nights ago for $40! Thanks to Charlee for helping me decide that I had to have her :-) I've put tons of pictures showing what she's missing as well as what came with her on my blog: kydeb.wordpress.com Please check it out and feel free to help me out in identifying whatever you recognize. There is one plate in there (on the far left in the 8th photo) that doesn't seem to belong. Also, for those of you in the know, an added bonus in one of the drawers was a "Rotary Magic Buttonholer." Anyone know anything about it? It's marked "Greist Mfg Co USA US Patent No 2482607 AND 2536620 OR 2547925" It also has the number "W654321N" on it's side. It's black with a white knob on the top. There are 8 buttonhole cams included in the box.

Congrats! I agree with Charlee! Sellers are asking $150 - $350 in my area for not as nice looking!!

You did good Kiddo!! I see one bobbin that fits your machine...it's the one with three large holes and one small hole. You got lots of attachments, but unfortunately, they aren't for this machine. The attachments that you have are side clamps, this machine takes a back clamp attachment. The buttonholer is for another machine as well. Whoever had this lady probably also had a class 15 machine.

PM Mizkaki here on the board for a slide plate, belt and you'll probably want some bobbins too. I've heard tell that she has LOCKERS FULL of attachments, so she might also save you some searching time there... You really don't need much to get this pretty girl up and running...

I did notice a little silver on a couple of her decals. That means the clear coat is gone at least in that area...be careful with cleaning her up...use sewing machine oil, elbow grease, and lotsa patience. :) Once you get her cleaned up, Glenn is going to be posting a tutorial soon on how to re-do the clear coat on our machines that need it. :)

Oh...and the plate that doesn't seem to go? That's the feed dog cover for the buttonholer... :)

Greist manufactured buttonholers long before Singer. Evidently Singer was rather late in adding buttonholers to their line up of attachments. If you compare the Greist buttonholer to the old Black Singer buttonholers, you will find that they are remarkably similar (almost identical). They still work beautifully and are my favourite way to make buttonholes as they are always exactly the same. You can't beat those old cams! I even use my old buttonholer on my Janome 6500 as it does a much better job and will handle larger or thicker buttonholes.

$40.00, you didn't buy that set up you STOLE it. LOL
What a buy - if you hadn't bought it, you would have regretted it for a LONG time.

Thanks for the great comments and information! I sent Mizkaki a PM and she answered me last night. I need to message her back what I need. I did manage to find that buttonholer on ebay. It had a good picture - which included that plate - but no real information, so I put the plate in the box with the rest of it. I'm a little disappointed that none of those attachments fit her :( I haven't named her yet - thinking of naming her after my grandmother but I'm not sure I want to name her "Elnita." Maybe I will name her my grandmother's maiden name..... "Page" That would probably sound better :) I'm really new to all of this and know nothing so feel free to give me all the free advice you can!! I appreciate it all more than you could know! I love this board!!!

My old Singer treadle, circa 1927, is named Ardath Susan after my mother, and grandmother. Grandma bought her after she had my mother. I need to replace the belt and I'm good to go!

The characters: "W654321N"on the side of the button holler are the width controls. W = wide, N = narrow and the numbers = in between.
That button holler is not for a Singer or Singer type, but it's for a Kenmore, White or other machine that uses the collar type of foot attachments. You remove the collar assembly then attach the button holler with a wedge fit on the round shaft using the screw to clamp it tight.
The large plate in pic 12 on your blog is the feed dog cover plate and it goes with the button holler. There should be a thumb screw with it as well.
I have an old Kenmore that uses that style.
The button holler works the same, just attaches different.

Well, I thought I would take a shot! I took the belt that was broken out of the cabinet drawer, cut off the broken end (which wasn't much), took it out to the garage and drilled a tiny hole in it. Low and behold!! It actually fit on the machine and works!!! I oiled everything that could be oiled and she purrs!!! As soon as I get the slide plate, I'm trying this sweet machine out!!! Family is pretty much laughing at me right now......you can find me just pumping away!! Love to hear that sound! Sooooo sweet!!!!
