CONVIENENT SPIFFY AD MAKING KIT - no thinking necessary - or CL ads for dummies?

Ok this is a spiffy AD making KIT - all you have to do is cut and paste to make your own Craig's List ad. Here are some UNEDITED bits and pieces of actual CL ads for you to select from. Feel absolutely free to add your own bits and pieces from actual CL ads so that we can have enough selection to go around - remember all the thinking, typos, grammar errors are already there. All you have to do is fill in a bad picture of the back of a machine and a price. Oh, and you can make it some outrageous price - nobody seems to care.

I have an antique sewing machine, the brand is Modern. It works exceptionally well just don't have room for it anymore!!

This belonged to and was used by my grandma. Many scratches on top of cabinet. Needs a good tune-up, not working right now. I can refer you to a place that does repairs on this type of machine. Or perhaps you just need parts???

Drawers have extra accessories; needles, thread, and original attachments.

Also has original instructions and price list for replacemant parts. Few scratches on top of desk, otherwise great condition.

make offer on sewing maching.
Seems to be at least 47 years old.
there was some advertixing in bottom
the cord needs to be worked on.

This is the sort of cabinet (no machine) that was made somewhere in the vicinity of the very early 1900's by the White Sewing Machine Company. The White Sewing Machine Company had been around since about 1876.

Included with the cabinet (no machine) is an accessory box and some attachments for a machine, and some original paperwork including an owner's manual. There are four drawers. There is one water ring stain on the top of the cabinet.

1901 white treadle sewing machine, with original paperwork. solid wood. this is in near perfect condition with original finish. if your interested email me a phone number and i will send mine . there are to many scamers out there. You will not be disappointed in this machine. the only reason we are selling it is we are downsizing the collection we have to 1. priced to move this weekend.

This is probably 40-50 years old. Comes in its own carrying case. This was the ONE and ONLY standard sewing machine of the 1940s 50s and 60s. They are workhorse and very durable. This has not been used in many years due to my mothers age health etc. I think everything still works???

nice foot pedal sewing machine

This piece is a beautiful, rare, old piece in really. really good shape. The accessories that are with this machine are GREAT!! The Manufacturer's booklet is in MINT condition!! It comes with a New Home Accessory Tin with purple lining & feet for every thing that is possible with this machine!! I can't say enough about the accessories!! Impressive cast iron hardware has gold detailing. The machine itself has a bobbin winder on the front. Who ever bought this has had it it's whole life & really took very nice care with it. I don't believe they used it much if at all!! The Oak cabinet has a knee door on hinges on the front, a lap drawer & 4 side drawers. All drawers have a lock on them & the "skeleton" key comes with it. This comes with accessories, cabinet, treadle machine, castiron legs & foot peddle. I have looked at what they are selling on other sights & the worth of this item would run around $350 or more. $280.

age is some where from the 60 to 70 not sure maybe 50 works great with case

From left to right on front of the machine you have a stitch width lever with five settings ranging from straight to wide zig zag pattern. Next is a needle position lever with left, center and right. Next is the bobbinwider. There is a large knob for setting the stitch lenth. It has a push button reverseand it does reverse cloth. There is an off knob for the light and the machine itself. It has a 1.0 amp motor. It also uses a drop in bobbin. This sewing machine comes with a hard plastic carrying case.

Needs to go...asap...need the space

classy looking table model everything works including light. black & gold lettering very cool machine - kinda of a rare model $ 150 OBO

The only reason it is being sold is because of break-up. I will miss the cabinet, but the machine was useful also.

Runs good, but a drop of oil might help it run a little smoother

1920-1930 Singer Sewing Machine. last used in 1998. I dont know how to run it.

Great piece of history.

The cabinet is in overall good shape for its age (the top is a bit weathered and there are several scratches on the sides of the cabinet). The sewing machine itself needs a bit of attention (knobs, belt and power cord) but once again is in overall good shape for its age.

Has original owner's manual and all attachments. - I didn't know owner's manuals had attachments.

This machine is in a Wood Cabinet, has foot pedle all attchments it runs and works.

I have an old standard sewing machine that has been in my family for a long time. When researching it it said that it was from before singer bought the standard sewing machine company. I don't know what does and doesn't work. It may need some work. I'm not a sewer so I do not know.

EXCELLENT CONDITION AND RUNS BEAUTIFLLY. THIS MERCURY COMMERCIAL MACHINE IS FROM MY GREAT AUNTS ESTATE. IT COMES WITH ALL ATTACHMENTS, ORIGNAL BOXES OF SPOOLS, ALL ORIGINAL PAPER BOOKLETS, ETC. The machine tucks nicely into the custom case that is also in perfect condition. I have used this machine and it works and performs perfectly. The belt will need to be replaced and they are easily purchased and inexpensive. Looks like a Japanese 15 clone to me $200???

miriam 02-11-2012 09:21 AM

Working condition too, my great aunt made socks, sweaters, etc... and used it up until she got sick recently.
i'll deliver it as it weighs over 150 pounds.

Glenda m 02-11-2012 11:06 AM

Those are a hooot! Even funnier, because, you have seen listings like that. Usually asking $$$$$$. Keep em coming!!

Bennett 02-11-2012 12:27 PM

Better yet, put the "ad-making kit" itself on CL. :)

miriam 02-11-2012 01:12 PM

I have taken it out and oiled it over the years to maintain it. I have not physically sewn on it in 10 years. So the motor does run. How well? Well, it should probably be timed if you ever wanted to use it to sew with, I would imagine. But it should stitch.

JMCDA 02-11-2012 02:29 PM

ROFLOL - these are hilarious Miriam!!! I will definitely have some clips to add to the "Kit"

I HAVE A TRUNDLE SEWING MACHINE IN A OAK CABINET THAT WORKS GREAT . EMAIL ME FOR PICS OR IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS

This is for a 1939 Singer Sewing machine. It is in pretty good condition for how old it is. It is a travel sewing machine so it comes in a box with a key. Very heavy and large though. Everything still works. It has been tested. The only thing missing is the bobbing cover i believe.

The Model 66 was introduced in 1900 with production continuing to the 1950's. The machine was made as a hand crank, treadle and electric machine. Various decal patterns were used on these machines and although the Singer company did not name the decal patterns over the years collectors have given them various descriptive names. In America the Model 66 had a decal pattern known by collectors as Red Eye which was introduced c1910.
Serial # G9097860 was manufactured on Dec 6, 1921 in Elizabeth, NJ model #66 was used for heavy duty sewing (canvas repair, reupholstering, etc) in factories during the World War.
NEEDS BELT - EXCELLENT CONDITION!!!!!!! One scratch on front of cabinet see picture and singer wording on the back is faded a touch, see picture. Original manual included as well. Cabinet also features 4 drawers. Dusty, has been in storage!!! Had storage people take picture....if you need addtional pictures, please let me know! $475.00

miriam 02-13-2012 11:18 AM

Featherweight-type Singer sewing machine. Only differance in portable Featherweight is this one is in a cabinet and Featherweights were portable. HAS ORIGINAL BOOKS and ORIGINAL attachments including buttonhole and more!!!! Was owned by one elderly lady who bought it in the 1940's or early 1950's new and sewed all her family's clothes on it. Still in great working condition. Possibly needs a new cord because still has origina cord on it. I bought it as a back up sewing machine from that little lady about five years ago shortly before her death but I have five sewing machines and now need the money!!!

Looks like a Singer 99 in the picture...

nstitches4u 02-13-2012 05:29 PM

I'm selling a 1920's vintage Singer Sewing Machine for $150 OBO. It does need some TLC, but looks great to be so old! ;o)
In cleaning out my dad's garage, we found this sewing machine, and didn't just want to throw it away.
It is NOT the kind that is attached to a table. It has a wooden cover as well.
It looks like it has a 1950's (ish) converter to make it electric powered with a little light.
It also has a booklet and an oil can with it.
Email me with questions! Like I said, it's not something we know anything about, but in the limited research I did online, others are being sold for well over $200.

My nearly 80 yr old Grandma has lost her house. She, my Grandfather and uncle who resided in the home for nearly 50 years all could be classified as pack rats. My grandfather was a TV repair man and loved all knick naks and antiques, My uncle was a ac repair man and tool junkie, as for grandma who will be removed from the home any day now; she collected any and everything between. As I stated earlier she has unfortunatly lost her home. She is subject to being forcibly removed at any given time. At that time all items left in the house wil belong to the bank that is taking her home. I would rather someone just make an offer so she could walk away with something to help begin the process of rebuilding her new life rather than see everything be demolished or auctioned and pocked by the bank. This is a HOARDER stlye house. PLEASE BEWARE most items in the home may need some work, such as old antique furniture needing to be refurnished. We got everything we could but there is still a lot left. Of the top of my head- a very old sleigh bed w/ matching vanity and dresser neither need much work at all other than cleaning, both with large original mirrors (bed has since sold), a very old white vintage bedroom set, a few singer sewing machines (one has a serial number that dates it to 1928 this particular one looks to be in good condition to me, it's a cabinet model with the whole foot dealy, then there are two table top units; one from probably the 70's and the other probably much older), a victrola or two one is still in rough working condition the better of the 2 is a floor model and there are several records, a hutch, litttle antiques ( antique roseville pottery, a model b Aladdin lamp from the 30's, 1 great working fedder's air conditioner along with a few others that would probably be best suited for parts, a ncr cash register that's in need of TLC the serial # on it dates it to 1907 but I'm not buying it, it doesn't really look that old, 2 vintage vacuums, a Kirby and a Hoover I believe, one still works, a newer refridgerator that would have to be cleaned out, two hand made fire place lights, a chandelier, two small t.v.s one large console television all three work just fine, there's also a medium sized t.v. that worked well last I checked - they're just older, a really old tall mirror that's pretty beaten up, a decent couch, a bar, a bicycle probably from 80's or 90's, a 70's Honda motorcycle, a unique antique round end table, one 1930's or 40's floor unit Magnavox radio, 2 victrolas one is a table top unit, the other a floor model in rough working condition, 2 wrought iron chairs, a very old dining room table in rough condition, 2 oak chairs, a more recent large desk as well as a smaller antique stationary desk, 2 shelties that need a good home, ect... If your inner picker is interested please give me a call or text anytime day or night if (I can't take the call I can most always respond to a text) and I will gladly walk you through the house. My name is Heather, I am her granddaughter and only close living relative (***) ***-**** TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!!! CALL ASAP she is staying there on borrowed time and without a doubt will be out by this weekend. Please do not respond to this add after this Sunday, as we will no longer have access to the house.

hhhmmmmmm pac rats with a sob story - I wonder if it sells anything???

Celeste, It is 4 am - my son just wrecked his truck - I'm waiting for DH to get out of the garage.... too funny. You made my day.

Quilt Mom 03-06-2012 04:26 PM

Miriam, these are wonderful! You provided (or CL did) my laughs for the day! Thanks.

By the way, did your son get hurt in the accident that wrecked his truck?

miriam 03-06-2012 04:30 PM

My son broke his toe nail - he superglued it and he is fine - just so out a vehicle.

miriam 03-07-2012 02:09 AM

This is an awesome machine up for sale. This is in excellent condition for it's age. My wife and I can't sew , we picked this up for a few more bucks then we're asking , I'm sure it's worth more we got it in an estate sale , it is gently used , has a foot controller , and a handy carrying case , I'm sure this would be an exceptional conversation piece at your dining room table. We're asking 275.00 , but will take a reasonable offer. These pictures don't do this justice believe me. E-mail us with any questions.

Quilt Mom 03-07-2012 04:17 AM

I can identify with being out a vehicle - we went through that twice last year. My DD finally realizes she has to deal with the consequences of her actions. (Not hurt, by the grace of God. Just walking - Hehehe)

I like the ad above - 'I'm sure this would be an exceptional conversation piece at your dining room table.' Can't imagine the crew I run with discussing a sewing machine at dinner!
