A couple of questions about my 15-88 Singer...

I recently purchased a Singer 15-88. I've already sewed a reproduction 1930's fabric baby quilt top on it. My question is how tight should the treadle belt be? I've shortened it once (bought it new when I got the machine) and it works better than when I first did it but I'm wondering if it's tight enough yet. Is there any videos anyone knows of that would show me this? Also, how is this machine for FMQ? Is there a foot I can get for it? It came with several but I don't think that one is with it...but I don't know what it should look like either. I'm going to try to lower the feed dogs this weekend. The screw the book shows me to do this with is stuck...any help on that would be appreciated too...

Hello Diannia, Singer 15s are the best treadles for FMQ. If you can't lower the feed dogs, set the stitch length to zero. That's what I do on my 15K treadle. I use a hopping foot, like the oval closed-toe foot shown on this page http://www.helenhowes-sewingmachines...quiltfeet.html

Did you try a little liquid wrench or Tri-flow squirted in and around the screw? Then heat it up with a hairdryer. Another thing that helps to move those stubborn screws is to wrap it in a rag and use a pair of pliers to get a better/tighter grip.

The problem with how tight the belt should be is a question that I also have so will be interested in the answers that you get about it
