Eldredge two-spool

Well, the fat man strikes again! I got the Eldredge in the back of my van. It hasn't got an owners' manual, but looks like it has everything else, even the original door key! Pictures to follow. Cheers! Chaz

Congrats. I am drooling here. I so want one. BUT, I do have an original manual just in case a Two Spool comes my way. I can scan a PDF copy of it if you can't find one on line. I keep the manual in a plastic baggy because it reeks of stale machine oil, but that is what preserved it. Does your machine have the spool can? If not they are nigh on impossible to find.

This thing is in a single door parlor case, and has a real pretty butterfly shaped treadle. The spool can is right here, and a copy of the manual would be very much appreciated. Would I owe you anything?

I sent you a PM.

Chaz,

This link has a lot of information on the two spool.

You will enjoy using the two spool. I use it for piecing. the spool in the can holds a lot of thread so no runing out of bobbin thread.

OK Chaz. Ever hear of Pavlov's dogs? Well that is a perfect description for me after seeing your pics. I am more that drooling now. I love the treadle peddle. I love the parlor cabinet. Uh Oh, I love everything about it. :o

Now that is what I call a sewing machine. Enjoy it. I've been looking for one a long time and they are elusive.

An Eldridge two spool is on my list too but probably not one I will get to check off anytime soon. I never see them...except in other people's collections.

Great find! I have an Eldredge Two Spools and a National Two Spools! They look identical except for the name! You will really enjoy that machine once you get used to using it! The Two Spools is great for piecing - the vintage foot is a perfect 1/4" and the feed dogs are exactly the same length . . . . so no pulling of the fabric to the side . . . straight seams!

What a beauty. May the two of you enjoy many years together.

JudyTheSewer 12-31-2012 11:12 AM

What a nice machine. I have not even seen one in person. This machine has been on my "want" list for a while now. I see many hours of happy sewing in your future!

MimiBug123 12-31-2012 11:44 AM

I've looked and looked to no avail! Maybe one day I'll find one. Congrats on your wonderful find!

I have finished scanning my Eldredge Two Spool manual for Chaz. It is 25 PDF pages and I will send it via Email, PM me if you want one. There are 2 interesting things I learned while scanning the manual. The cost of a complete spool case was $5.00 way back when and the Two Spool came as an electric machine also.

LuvQuiltin 01-02-2013 04:10 PM

I think some of the earlier Western Electric machines were two spools. Did Eldredge also make an "electric" machine with two spools?

They must have because the last page of the manual is the instructions for electric sewing machines.

I have a National and an Eldredge two spool model, and both say that they are made by the National sewing machine co. in Ill. From what I've seen the Western Electric, National and the Eldredge all have the same decals on them.

MarshaM 01-21-2013 04:14 PM

how do you find out what they are worth and when it was made? My neighbor bought one at a auction cause no one bid on it. I have no idea what he paid but he wants to sell it but has no idea what it is worth.

Vintage machines are not going for a lot of money. You see them advertised on Craigslist for outrages prices, but they don't sell. I paid less then $50 for my Eldredge Two Spools in a decent cabinet. The National Two Spools without a cabinet was about the same price. Price is only what you can actually sell it for - depends on who is looking and how bad they want the machine. I'd list it for around $100 and be prepared to come down. Your neighbor might get lucky and sell it for that much.

Hi Caroline,
My name is Tina and I have a National sewing machine, Eldredge two spool electric machine. I know absolutely nothing about it. I came across your post on a google search and coincidently, I don't live too far away. Do you still have the manual and if so, would you be willing to send me a copy? Thanks so much for your time!
Tina
