having a problem with a standard or where does this part go

not sure if I should be doing this, I may have killed my sewing machine..... I know take pictures before I get out the screw driver...

well, I've been redoing machine after machine since mid winter , at one time I had 4 in the remaking at the same time, then two at a time , then one and now another one, these are the treadles LOL

Left in the parts bucket was this part and it's screw !!!!!!!!!!! I went over the machine time after time and can not find where it fit's or a empty screw hole. If you know standards they are not built like any machine I have seen, much more compact, less moving parts....

I have not put a belt on it and tried to sew, two nights ago I did find that the feed dogs move up and down but not forwad or back. I have sent days searching standards and come up empty,, even if you have a manual showing parts of the machine, A part name might tell me where it goes...

I'll show the machine,,,, then the missing part ... I messed up forget the new home thats another story ...

Is the machine able to operate without this part? I'd check all the different systems to see which one isn't working properly to narrow things down. If that doesn't work you'd need to find someone willing to profusely photograph their Standard for you.

Good Luck

Just a few nights ago, in reading a post on here ,, on which direction these standard turn, I put a piece of fabric in and turned the hand wheel, it will not pull the fabric, the dogs do go up and down, but not forward or back. a standard is very thighly built, I can not see around the bobbin, feed dogs ect and was hoping to not have to tear it down again, as they say the 10 time is a charm....

I just finish up a New home, I'll have time now to go back to the standard ....

I found out it's a lost cause to talk to sewing machine shops around this area...

Could be something off the Stitch length knob up to the feed dogs assuming length isn't set to 0. Try moving the stitch adj knob and see if anything appears to be missing. At least it's narrowed down to the bottom of the machine.

Jon thanks, you gave me that knock in the head, that i needed..

I got it out last night playing with the dogs, they move just by pushing with a finger ???

It's a guide ofcousre at the end of the feed dog and is a part of stitch lenght, I see that plain as day now, because of the tightness in that area and there is a post there that the piece sits on, that post looks as if it's the guide

but , That screw is another part ?? LOL... I'l l put that in tonight and post pictures, since there is so little info on standards on the net ..
