Help- ? about placement of the Feed Regulator Hinge Screw Friction Washer on FW 221

I have recently refinished a 1941 Singer FW and need to know whether the feed regulator hinge screw friction washer goes inside the machine next to the feed regulator, or on the outside of the machine under the hand wheel before screwing in the stitch regulator hinge screw. Also, which direction does the washer go?

OK, a question I can answer. Only cos I looked at my FW. The washer, with it's three little tabs, goes under the head of the screw on the outside of the machine, with it's curved tabs facing inward.

The hinge goes on the outside of the machine just under the handwheel behind the screw for the stitch regular screw.
