Hoping I Get To Keep One of These Babies

1 Attachment(s)
These are two machines that my DH has totally refurbished, inside and out. I hope he lets me keep one for myself, it seems like it would be the only fair thing to do! Don't ya think.

Keeping my fingers crossed. I have wanted one for a long time, so will have to see how things go.

Both are gorgeous!!! I have a feeling you will get one so you might let him know which one it is you would like!

cmrenno 03-03-2012 03:39 PM

They are just beautiful I hope he lets you keep one!!!
May I ask what he used to shine them up so nice?

Keep the one in front. It is a little older and has the more elaborate face plate. You definitely deserve one!

Janis 03-03-2012 05:25 PM

I agree on keeping the front one. I also want to know how he got them so shiny. Will he share the secret with us?
Thanks.

He stripped these machines to bare metal, painted and finished them with a clear coat. I felt like I was driving a new car (LOL), when I was taking them for a test drive to be sure they were all timed correctly and sewed a good stitch.

valleyquiltermo 03-03-2012 05:42 PM

I can tell you I'd have the front one or know the reason why. LOL Beautiful

franc36 03-03-2012 06:38 PM

You need the machine on the front. I so hope you get to keep it! Don't you love sewing on those Featherweights!

Grandma Peg 03-03-2012 06:48 PM

He did a great job and hope you get the one you want.

mighty 03-03-2012 07:05 PM

They are beautiful, you should get one, may be 2 ?????

psychonurse 03-04-2012 04:29 AM

Beautiful. I wish I liver closer to you so he could shine mine up and replace the scroll work on the bed. Keep the one in front for yourself.

StarofMoonDancer 03-04-2012 05:29 AM

Totallly drooling. Wish I could get one. Lucky lady. They are beauties. :):):)

callen 03-04-2012 05:44 AM

If he repainted them how did he manage to salvage the decals? They are gorgeous. Can I have one? I would love a FW.

janiesews 03-04-2012 05:52 AM

Both are beautiful.

amyjo 03-04-2012 06:44 AM

I too would keep the one in front. prettier than the other. How did he keep the decals on it when he redid it?

annasgirl 03-04-2012 06:50 AM

Your DH is very talented! Make him his favorite dinner with dessert and then ask him for the machine with the fancy face plate!!!!! Good Luck!

Elaine433 03-04-2012 07:19 AM

He has to let you keep one. It was your idea to begin with.

harrishs 03-04-2012 07:21 AM

So pretty!!!!!!

fluffygirl 03-04-2012 07:46 AM

Oh my goodness! What a beautiful job:)! I denfinitely think you should have at least one! You are the quality control officer, so you should have a machine to compare to!

Pat

chickadeee55 03-04-2012 08:09 AM

LOL, I love that reason Pat.

Thanks guys for all the comments. Verdict is still out, it is kinda like a mechanic that fixes cars: he usually fixes the cars at home last, because he knows he can get to it later.

Both babys are gorgeous - It looks like you have one pre WWII and one WWII or later. They both look new and I know my FW sews like a dream, so I'm sure they will too. Your DH does great looking work.

VickyOH 03-04-2012 11:36 AM

He did a great job. Do you help him find the machines in need or rehab?

vivoaks 03-04-2012 03:46 PM

Wow!! Those are GORGEOUS!!! If it was me, I wouldn't ask - I'd just take the one I wanted and say, "This is MINE!!!!":o

That's what I would do!

KarenR 03-05-2012 06:27 AM

I'd give him a kiss and get all excited and say "Oh how wonderful! I always wanted twins!!! but twin featherweights is so much better - no potty training required!" You might end up with both of them.

Janis 03-05-2012 11:16 AM

KarenR, you have the right idea!! Take both and let him fix up two more since he does such a good job at it!

Rosewood9 03-07-2012 04:46 AM

Wow! Very beautiful!

LOL. That is great! If my DH restored FWs he would have a hard time getting them away from me. He would probably have to pry them out of my cold dead hands!

BETTY62 03-07-2012 09:16 PM

Just remind him that marriage is a 50-50 partnership and your keeping your half. LOL Enjoy the new addition to your family.
