How do you clean a treadle machine oak cabinet
Can anyone out there help me with cleaning an old oak cabinet for a treadle sewing machine? :):)

Does it just need to be cleaned? If so, Murphy's Oil Soap will clean it...followed by a coat of good furniture wax. :)

It is so dirty I am not quite sure yet but will try this first!! Thank you |
Glenn has a tutorial somewhere here and there is a really good book called 'The Furniture Doctor' by George Grotz.

with out knowing what you call dirty.
I have had to wash them just like a car, scrub brush soap and water . |
May I suggest that you post photos...one including entire cabinet and a couple showing the areas that you are concerned most about. I have just done a machine and cabinet that is 123 years old and learned a lot along the way. Glenn's information is great. I'm not sure that I would have attempted it without his instructions. I still have a lot to do before I reassemble my machine but will post photos when it is done.

Yeah he's just Glenn - he is visiting Indianapolis - he will be home in a couple days. I'll tell him to read the QB thoroughly when he gets back. He's been having too much fun up here.
