I finally found a Minnesota hand crank sewing machine
 

I went to a "Sale" today and found a Minnesota Hand Crank Sewing machine. I was so excited.:thumbup: All her parts move, but she does need a good oil bath. There is a bobbin and needle that we found underneath the machine. Only down side there is no cover for the machine. The wood base is in good condition, but not sure if it is the original. Cant wait to bathe her and give her a name. They said they dated the machine back to 1912. I paid $15.00 for her, got her down from $20:thumbup:

Your Minnesota D only had the iron base, no wood. Looks like someone built a little cabinet for it at one time. The D was built by Davis of Dayton Ohio for Sears. In 1906 this would have cost $5.95 from the catalog plus freight.

ebay has the coffin top listed once in awhile....good machine...love her

Very nice.... congrats. I keep looking at all the hand cranks and think I need to find one but I'm wondering how hard it is to control the fabric with your left hand while you're cranking with your right? It seems like it would be a great machine to teach a small child because they could control the speed and hopefully not stab themselves with the needle.
