I gave away one of 'babies' today.

In the interest of thinning the herd, I gave away my 3/4 size Leader (made by National) machine today. I will miss her more than I thought because she was in such pristine shape. Needed nothing more than a cleaning with oil and a coat of Kleen n Wax on the cabinet and she looked new. Can't say that for the others. This is the before picture. I'm glad I didn't take an after - I might have kept it.

You gave it away? Didn't sell it? Sure is pretty but good for you to have courage to thin the herd.

With some machines I think it's best to consider the new owner more than the price ;- )
|
The new owner must be thrilled to have been chosen to receive it.

wow......what a beauty....glad she went to a good home
|
That certainly is a beauty. I'm sure her new mama is thrilled.

Did you do the refinish on the wood cabinet? That's a beautiful machine. May I ask what was used on the finish? Stain color and spray for brushed laquor? etc. Thanks for any info.
|
It didn't need any refinishing. That is the old picture of what it looked like when I brought it home 6 years ago. Before the kids took it away, they went over with Howard's Restor- A-Finish and Howard's Feed-N-Wax. It looked beautiful. They also cleaned the machine with sewing machine oil and had it drummed into their heads to never touch those decals with anything else.

I recently gave away my Necchi Supernova to an electrician friend. He wanted to make his girlfriend bras that would fit. He was thrilled and loved the machine even the blond cabinet!

The old adage, "If you love something, set it free," is true.
