Interesting and nice looking way to display a machine

Spare treadle heads could sit in these when not mounted in a cabinet. I wonder where I could get some of those feet?

Wow, that is a very nice display stand, really like the feet!!

I like it but it would be noisy to use unless hand cranked. Some issue of oil on furniture, etc.

That's why I was thinking of display only and I'm sure the people listing this machine think of that way as well.

that's a neat little display stand. the metal feet are just like ones on one of my vintage clocks. i wonder if someone has adapted them from an old clock.

Beautiful display piece. The brass feet really set it off and probably are available on ebay. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like Oregongirl got it. I haven't seen those exact feet but a search for brass clock feet turns up different styles that could be used for good looking display bases.

There are people who think that antique machines are for display only, not to be used to sew with. GASP!!!

I love it. If anyone knows where these stands can be purchased, please post.

I kind of doubt you can buy them - they won't fit too many machines.

I was just looking more closely at this one and I'm wondering if someone took a small frame & panel door and modified it or if they actually built a frame up from scratch? Or maybe Davis' treadle cabinets were topped with frame and panel and they took the top off then added some moulding and feet. That would explain why the holes are there for a treadle belt.

Thank you for sharing that photo. It is an excellent way to display a machine head.

Glenn or some cabinet maker would be a better judge of this but I *think* that this was a portion of a treadle cabinet top. Hopefully it was a case of something nasty happening to the rest of the top/cabinet and this portion being salvaged and repurposed. Hopefully.

I still think it's a nice looking idea. With the right feet you could even put a hand crank machine in there with a drip pan - sort of like a wooden version of the iron base on the New National I posted last weekend. I suppose it could even be done with wooden feet if you wanted to do it all without a foundry.
