Hi,
I just bought an old Montgomery Ward Brunswick VS treadle sewing machine. I only have the manual. I would love to see if I can find the accessories for this machine and parts as well. It has the bobbin shuttle but not the bobbin it self. If any one knows of any web site where I might find accessories and parts PLEASE, PLEASE, let me know! Thank you! |
Try talking to Billy, Lost51...Vintage machine Shop thread

Thanks, Karen. I'll try him.

Very nice looking machine and cabinet.
Does it have the long shank or short shank on feet? |
Susan she is beautiful!

Here is some info on your machine.

so pretty!! ENJOY!!
|
You can try Jenny at Sew Classic. www.sew-classic.com
|
Yep, sew-classic.com is the stuff! :)
Can you take a couple of pictures of the foot and where it attaches to the shank? One from the front and one from the end of the machine? It looks like there's a knurled ring at the bottom of the shank and the foot would be attached by a flat pair of prongs - is that right? If so, I might have a set of attachments for it. I will try to find a bobbin for you so that you can test it to see if it works - if it does, you can order modern repros from Jenny pretty cheap. |

I had no idea that bobbins were ever like this one. |
I think the National bobbin should fit in it fine. I think there are actually 2 sizes of bobbins of that style out there. If I find any feet around, I'll let you know. I'll check out the second hand store when I stop in.

OH, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Norene!!

I have some top-clamping feet in two different sizes. Five are 5/8" from the top of the clamp to the underside of the foot:

And I have a partial set that is 9/16" - it has the binder and hemmers, a narrow hemmer, a quilting foot, quilting guides, a shirring/edgestitcher plate and an underbraider.

This thread is amazing! I've been trying to find info and pics for my Alvah. Other than decorations, it is a match to this. It's in much rougher shape finish wise but seems to be complete except for the shuttle (can it use the Boye #13?), bobbins, and belt. Suggestions for shuttle, needle and bobbin references? I have no manual.
|
I have one Boye#14 new needle in the case, if you want it. Boye says to sell shuttle #22 if the #13 is too short. I have a new original 22 if that will help you.

I just bought the exact machine you have (Brunswick treadle), but my cabinet is missing the drawers on the side. I have all the accesories and the manual. I couldn't find a serial number on it, I wish I knew when it was made, just so I would know. No publishing date on the manual, and not as much info on Brunswick as Singer, but it's a good little machine

Thanks, I didn't think to look at a removable part, since they can be replaced. Wow, over a hundred years old, that's really cool. I'll check for the number when I get home-thanks again!
My "new" treadle |
Wow! Very sweet machine you have there. My pic is my "before". It will never look as good as yours. It sat in the damp for far too long. I need to take some good "after" shots.
Now I need to clarify. The serial number is stamped on the machine but you must completely remove the front shuttle plate in order to see it. Sliding it back just isn't far enough. ;) |

I travel a lot for my job and happened to be in the neighborhood of Belvidere, IL. I went to the Boone Historical Society because they were supposed to have a display of National Sewing Machine items. I was disappointed; they really didn't have much at all. However, they did have this 1890 Eldredge model, purchased in 1890 for $23.50. I think ours must be closer to 1896 by the looks of it, note the curved base and angular shape, and the iron legs on the cabinet. The shuttle and cover were exactly the same, I took the cover off, and the serial number on this was 149xxxx; mine begins with 327. I wish I had taken a picture of the serial number, I will if I ever go back. Thanks for the info on the #, mine is a "before" too, I just bought it last Saturday, but since I have the attachments and the manual, I should be able to fix and use it.
