Just bought a vintage singer 15-91 and cabinet missing part
1 Attachment(s)
I just bought a singer 15-91. I also bought a cabinet without realizing that the cabinet was missing one of the most important pieces. Anyone know where I can find the piece that goes in the missing spot?

Hi,
Found in ebay or perhaps someone on QB might have a trashed cabinet and sell you the part. Jon |
Looks like mine but mine is a treadle. Sews great. Enjoy.

Ray, as far as I know no one makes that spring-loaded lift assist part these days; but the good news is there are millions of them attached to currently-existing cabinets, from which you'll have to harvest one.
If you manage to acquire one, do be careful installing it--it contains a spring that is under a tremendous amount of pressure, and if it "gets away from you" during the installation process it can be nasty. If I were in your position I'd simply find a cabinet that already had the part installed to save myself the trouble. With any luck, you won't have any trouble finding one. Hardcore sewing machine collectors often have more cabinets than they know what to do with and are happy to unload some. |
I think it is just a small cup-like thing that was to hold stuff or someone might have had it hooked up as a treadle. Either way, just put something over it and enjoy!

I see cabinets for sale all the time for not much money. I agree, just get a different cabinet.
