39 machines (not including the Juki or Viking Lily - both much more recent machines.) Dates range from 1884 (Singer 13) to sometime in the late 50s/early 60s (Husqvarna 21). Now I want more!

Wow! That is an collection! I got all almost all I plan on getting at eight. Have fun with it!

I got you beat. By how much I have no idea. I'm afraid to count 'em.

Wow! I feel like a total slacker!!! :). Now we need pics, or they don't exist. :P

I think the only one we haven't posted pictures for is the 201 that's still buried in its cabinet. At some point I should do a gallery of them, maybe with before and after shots once they're all cleaned up.

Whoa, and those aren't the light weight plastic ones!! Hope you have strong floors. If you line them all up, you could thread one in red, one in blue...green...orange.... that way you could just sit and sew.

You have me beat. I have to be careful what I buy because my DH won't let me take over the house. I don't know what his problem is.................................. :-) I'm 14 and counting.

Wow that many sewing machines! I have all I can do to keep one up and running.

No. I want to have them all working eventually but I don't for a minute think they'll all be used. As I get them cleaned/repaired/adjusted we'll figure out which ones will be working machines and which will be the main collection (and which might be passed on to new homes.)

One of the turning points for us was admitting that we were collecting rather than just acquiring user machines. At that point we gave ourselves permission to get machines for which we have no legitimate need but that we want for other reasons. So, while the 48k, 13, New National, 28, etc... work fine they aren't likely to see much use during our custodianship.

Scanning the inventory it looks like at least 15 of the machines a good to go right now, and possibly as many as 20 of them. Most of the others probably only need basic servicing but a few will require some serious work to get the fully up to speed.

I've actually wondered if I should go ahead and post pictures of all of them on the main picture thread so they're all together but it seems a waste of resources considering they've all been posted on other threads before.

I have 6 vintage machines and one modern Pfaff. My husband keeps asking what I am going to do with all of them. I tell him I sew on them. lol. I bought a featherweight first, then found a black 301 at a flea market, then I found a 15-91 in a cabinet and a beige 301a at antique shops. I found a 99-13 and cabinet on Craigslist. The motor wasn't any good so I bought another 99-13 for parts--it came in the bottom of a bentwood case but I felt it was too good to use for parts so now I am buying parts to fix both of them. Then I found a rusted 66 at an antique shop--it was only $12.00 so I bought it. It was froze up but I was able to free it up and it cleaned up nicely. I am thinking about buying a 500 I saw at a local flea market. I need to find a place to put it, though.

I currently have 5 and two are plastic fantastic... So in reality I only have 3. But I have super limited room since I'm still living at home. If theres an extra spot I have room in my collection for a straight stitch treadle. Most likely a singer.

I stopped counting around 60. I think I'm at around 75 or so at the moment. Would have been one more but I got sniped last night at the last second on a gorgeous Willcox & Gibbs. :( That was going to be my christmas present.

I have at least 40 machines and yes I'm a collector but need to thin the herd to make DH a bit happier and give some family room space. I have some that I have no idea, beyond getting running again, what I'm going to do with some of them and do need to determine how many treadles a girl actually needs. Currently, I have 7, I think, and all need work :( but I also have some other e-machines that I am not sure if they even work.

I think I counted eight in my collection - a White tredle (belong to my great grandmother and given to me by my grandmother before she passed about 30 years ago), a Singer tredle (given to me by a friend) a Singer 66 (belonged to my mother-in-law), two Featherweights, a Pfaff (not sure of the model, but computerized), a Janome that I keep at our beach house, a Janome 6600 (I sew on this all the time - won it on a quilt shop hop) a White Rotary (purchased at a yard sale this past summer for $40) and my Gammill Longarm - oops I count ten!!!

You have made me feel so good..I feel so guilty that I hord machines. I have 4 berninas,200, 160,150, and my last purchase, a 930 in beautiful shape for $25.00. I almost knocked the lady down giving her the money. I also have 3 FW's black, a FW white, an Elna Jubilee, a singer 603, a 185J and another older singer...99 I think that I bought at a yard sale for $5.00 because I did not want to see it sitting in the rain waiting for the garbage truck. They all work beautifully. I also have a Free#7 that is a treadle, a serger and a Tin Lizzie. Isn't that ridiculous to have that many? I would not blink an eye to buy another FW or Bernina if the price was right and if my husband did not catch me and if I had the money. I have given my niece one of the FW's or my number would be higher. It is like I am possessed about sewing machines, fabrics, and books. I hope to give a FW to my daughter when she gets her BS this summer. I also plan on giving one to both granddaughters. See how easy I can justify why I need more. Just so happy to see how lots of you have me beat. I don't plan on buying any more...but I sure would love to have a 301....or maybe a 401...or maybe one of those old singer bullet machines...yes I do need SSA (sewing machine anonymous)!

I bought my first and so far ONLY machine a Singer 99 a few months ago. I came across it unexpectently at a Goodwill store. If another vintage machine ever crosses my path I would buy it.

You guys are so funny. You just reminded me that I own a 15-91 in cabinet. I haven't been able to open her up to use since I got her a year ago, due to space limitations. I also own a Singer 99, with 2 cabinets given to me by a collector friend who didn't want to do the cabinet work. She said there were just enough good parts (to the cabinets) to make one good machine setup. My husband is making me a small wooden base so I can use the machine on a table while I refinish the cabinet. I would love a 66 or 201 as well. Yes, I really just want my own little (working) sewing machine museum, or antique shop featuring sewing machines; since I also have a weakness for any quality old oak furniture. LOL A friend has many great old treadles in quarter-sawn oak cabinets. I'd love to have one of those. For any of you antique lovers, go see Jenny's website and reviews of old machines at "sew-classic" blog. I love how she converted a Singer 99 into a hand-crank! She links to most manuals for the classic Singers. Great pictures there as well.

We are now looking for our retirement property, and have agreed we both want a small house with big shops for our hobbies. ;) Not sure they'll be room for the grown kids to "move home", but I've decided we'll make a "bunk house" for visitors. I want a little land again, miss our 5 acres we had when the kids were young. I plan to have all my machines setup in working space. Can't wait!
