Kangaroo Sewing Machine Co
10 Attachment(s)
I just purchased a handcrank sewing machine made by the Kangaroo Sewing Machine Co but I can't find any information on her. I would appreciate any help finding a new manual. The one that you see is all stuck together. I can't turn all the pages because they will tear. Only a few pages work. She does us a standard round bobbin - no shuttles. Enjoy looking at her. She is a beauty! and she just purrs when I turn her handle to sew. She is so smooth. The tag said $95 but I got her for $75. The man said his sister in law was a missionary who bought this in Belize. She even used it on a sail boat. I do not know how old she is. Wish she could talk and tell us some stories.

Machine is wonderful! Instruction book looks like it went overboard :-(.

Lovely! The decals remind me of the Singer decals on machines made for India- I wonder if it's a clone or actually made by Singer?
|
This looks very much like the one that I purchased. After a lot of research, I found out that mine was made by Singer but it is reproduction 15 clone. It is a hand crank too as there is still a market in some countries for machines that can stitch without electricity. I am still looking for a manual too.

Is there a JA number embossed on the dark underside? I see it is a Deluxe machine. Made in Japan? Perhaps. If I had seen it it would have hopped right home with me. I can always make room for a machine in a case.

Dairy Farmwife,
That is a recently made HA-1 / 15 clone. Perhaps India or China. It's a close copy of the Singer Mdl 15 with some embelishments. You can get generic manuals for it at Sew-Classic and other places. They are very simple machines. Here is a link to Singer of India and some of the machines they make: { http://www.singerindia.net/Straight_Stich.aspx?id=1 } You can see they are clearly marked "Singer". That is why I do not believe the Kangaroo you have is a Singer. Joe |

She has a sticker underneath but it is covered by black ink. My son and I used a magnifying glass and flashlight. We got TC 089236.
Any clues anyone!?!? I appreciate the help. I knew I could count on you wonderful people for help! A huge thanks! |
Thank you Joe for your help. I will visit their site. I didn't see anything in the manual about the switch on the front that you can select embroi/silk/norm.
Any clues how to use that? |
Wondering if there might be away to unstick the pages without ruining them? I'
m sure there must be away to restore old books. Love the Kangaroo, what a nice interesting find there! |
|
That is one of the prettiest machines I have ever seen,
|
I'd be hopping for joy!
|
What a beauty.
|
If you never find out its origin, you still have one unique beautiful machine with a huge interest factor.

I'd suggest contacting Sew Classic to see if she can help you find a manual.

Looks like my 15-91 Clone from Singer. Go to the Ismacs.net site and download a free manual. The only thing mine does not have is the silver dial next to the thread holder spindle. Mine is electric but I put a hand crank on it so it could go camping with me.
|
I do not know who made it- but I love it. Where did you find it?
|
Try this link for Bill Holman's manual for the HA-1 class 15 straight stitch sewing machine. The Singer 15-88 through 15-91 has a different bobbin case as 'finger' on it points to the 11:00 position. The HA-1 has a 'finger' on the bobbin case that points to the 1:00 position. However, the manuals are mostly the same.

I LOVE the looks of your machine!!!!! I am not normally a jealous person----but tonight I am a lovely shade of green.
|
She/he is a beauty/handsome one.
Name her/him "Joey" |
it threads like my Singer 237, flat of needle goes to the right and machine threads from left to right. Its got very pretty decals.

Thanks Joe and Caroline. I finally downloaded the 'correct' manual and all is good! I had downloaded the wrong one the first time. Karen, I saw a posting on Craigslist and emailed about it. It's an elderly couple in rural Floyd VA that own an antique shop. The lady said it belonged to her sister. I didn't have time to try her out this weekend but maybe this week I can. She is beautiful! Even if I don't know exactly where she is from, I know I will enjoy her! Thanks for all the great help and comments everyone.
