Kenmore sewing machine

I have an older Kenmore, bought it about 20 years ago. I would like to know more about it. It doesn't have a name but I do have a model number: 385.12712090. Any information would help. Thanks, Sharon

Here's a free manual! http://www.manualslib.com/manual/503...90.html#manual

Thank you both for the lead to the manual. I was able to oil the machine and try it out. It's a good little machine.

Yahoo has a couple of groups that are a wealth of info. Here's a link from a search for "kenmore" in Yahoo groups:

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/search?query=kenmore

The Kenmore groups are second and third on the list.

It's made by Janome, the 385 tells us that. I have had 2 Janome made Kenmore machines here, and I liked them both. They seem to be towards the top as far as quality when you compare what's out there dollar for dollar. i.e. a Singer, Brother, etc in the same price range. I had one that was a fairly entry level machine and it worked just fine, I have one here right now that was top of the line in its day and it also seems to have no quirks at all. If I had one complaint about the Janome built Kenmores it would be that these ones (the ones I've had here) haven't seemed to have had any personality. But I guess I'll take no attitude over a bad attitude any day. :)
