Lookit what I'm getting for free ......

........... well, I gotta go get it, and it's in Ft Wayne, IN. But we've gotta go there for my late MIL's memorial service. MIL died 2-15 of this year and the family had two memorials. One in Denver for those on the west side of the country and now one in Ft Wayne for those on this end of the country.

So any way, my wife was in FW last weekend for the 3 Rivers Festival and stayed at her sisters house. The one I did the thread about some time back. This is what's been waiting quietly in her garage for a new home:

Singer 9W-7 in a 7 drawer treadle cabinet

Bobbin end, it uses the 221/301 style of bobbins:

The serial number. No idea if that helps, but what the heck:

And the cabinet. My SIL told us whoever had it in the past kept a fish tank on it. All but ruining the top.
My wife ( she took the pics ) said all the veneer was there, but was coming loose.

I figure that when I get it here I'll be asking for help and advise on repairing the top of the cabinet.

So, you think I'm paying to much for this?

Doing the happy dance for you Joe.:p And you price is awesome. Sounds like you will be adding veneering skills to your skills set. Here is a link to info regarding the 9W model http://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/9w/ if you have not found it before. I have a feeling that you will return her to treadling status.

Congrats! The cabinet looks pretty too! The Singer 9W makes beautiful stitches. Enjoy!!

This will be my second 9W-7. I'll probably bag it and tag it and put a more modern machine in the cabinet. Something with a reverse and maybe a ZZ machine.

I love all old sewing machines! Especially the free ones!!

Free IS good. :D

The funny thing my SIL wants a treadle, but she want's one that takes standard needles, feet and accessories, and has a reverse. And ... that she doesn't have to fix up.

Joe, I have a 127 in the same cabinet...aren't they pretty? I'm just about through with fixing mine, just need to make a slight adjustment in the length of the treadle belt and she should be ready to go.

momto5,

From what my wife told me the cabinet is in good shape, other than the veneer on top. I'm hoping I can glue it back down, then sand, stain, and refinish it to some sort of match to the rest of it.
I'm not good at wood working so I try to do as little as I can.

Good luck in doing the cabinet refinishing. I will be doing so also except some of my veneer is missing...sigh. Glad to have Skipper on my side to advise me!
