Michigan Farmer sewing machine

Recently saw a "Michigan Farmer" sewing machine at thrift store, any info about this machine would be appreciated. The machine and case were in good shape and priced at $35. Thanks.

Probably a badged machine by __________________ . I have no idea really. You should have snuck a picture of it and posted it here. We could be more help then. Or bought it and took some pics when you got it home :D .

This one is made by Davis:

Could also be a few "generations" made by different makers.

Like others said, without a picture we can't identify the Mfg of the Machine, as "Michigan Farmer" is just a name they put on it for whatever reason. I've read that orders as small as 30 machines could have thier Name put on them. Don't know if it's true thought . . .

This is also why you'll see so many machines with the decals in good shape but the name worn off. The base decorations were applied and coated and then the Names were put on as needed, with not near the protective coating over them. Though the very large suppliers may have selected a specific decal pattern, and then the name was applied with the base decals.

Since Singer never "badged" machines, their base decals included all the lettering, so it's rarely worn off like most badged machine.

It's not uncommon to find the exact machine, decals and all, with different "Names" in the nameplate area.

And like Jon said, if the reseller stayed in business, they might order machines from a different mfg the next time, but the "name" stayed the same. The fun part is figuring out what "names" were owned by the Mfg, and which ones were owned by the reseller.
