Morse 4300 repair
I have tried everything to get this machine to sew, half the time the needle won't pick up & the tension pops out, any suggestions. I have the manual, new needle, thread proper size, adjusted the timing.
What could I be missing? |
Are you sure the timing is adjusted correctly? Not picking up the bobbin thread is a sign it's not timed right. Is the needle in correctly? This could also be the problem. I don't understand "the tension pops out". If you could give more info. it will help. I have a Morse that's only a few models away from yours.

I have a Morse Fotomatic but I think my tension is different than yours. I'll take a look and get back to you if I see anything that might help you.

Not picking up the thread could be from it being threaded through the needle backwards (left to right or right to left). if you open the face plate look and see if you can put a drop or two of oil on the tension assembly area. That part might be a little dry and making it want to pop out on you. Also if you take a hair drier and warm that area up and it shoud soften any goo or gum that might be stopping it from working properly.

Miriam is REALLY good at getting these old girls working again!! :)

I picked one up the other day and have yet to see what all it needs. I know it needs the reverse button fixed.
