My Lucky Day Today

I was in the right place at the right time today. My sisters and I were wandering through antique shops and happened upon this little beauty way in the back, that someone was looking at for only the cabinet. I said "OHHHH..it's a 99K !!!" and their response was to look at me blankly. The gentleman said he was only looking at it because of the cabinet and would probably end up throwing the sewing machine away. He offered to sell the machine to me for $10.00 and I jumped right on that. So we came out of the antique shop with a real jewell. Right???

I would say you did pretty good. So are you going to put her back in a cabinet, or a case?

More than likely just line her up with all the others that don't have a space of their own right now--but when I do find a cabinet that 99 will fit, I'll get it and fix her right up--then start looking for a granddaughter to give her to....

I think you did great! Just looking at her makes me smile!

What a beautiful machine! I can't believe anyone would even think about throwing it away! Glad you were there for the rescue - congrats!

Congrats for saving her. I think the 99K was calling you to rescue her.

CUTE! I have the same one and I really like it. I wish I had a case for it, I bought from Ebay without the case.

Those 99's have to have a case or a cabinet to work right - the cabinets aren't easy to find. They are a fantastic little machine. The Singer 99 takes a normal class 66 bobbin and sews a real nice stitch - they are super easy to use. Back to the machine holder... you might be able to make one - here is a link to how to make a box for a sewing machine. http://www.treadleon.net/woodshop/bu...dingbases.html I have a Singer 403 and my 99 take the same bobbin so I keep them next to each other - easy to go back and forth if I want to.

Oh, that is a beauty. I be it will look brand new when you get it cleaned up. You can buy nice wooden bases for it, but of course you will pay way more than you did for the machine. I think you can also buy plastic cases for those 3/4 machines.
