I went and picked her up today shes just perfect, although I need to find a belt for her and I want to get her house refurbished someone had fun with putting some polyurathane on her. I'm just thrilled. I found old packages of needles with her also. no directions no extra feet .
I believe shes a 15 from earlier comments and something I read on the needle packages, i found these numbers on her but when i went searching i did not find much. I was told 1890 16297125 am I missing something here? Thank you for your help and thoughts.. Sandra My Beauty |
She looks really well maintained, and from just looking at what you have shown I think your date might be dead on. I love how large the handwheel is and the decals are almost perfect on the machine. You have a very nice machine on your hands and you will really love using it.
Nothing like treadling away making a quilt!!! Billy |

You will find the NO. on the bed right under her medallion ( right hand side). It starts with Letters. Then go to the singer WS and look her up.She has a very nice Sphinx design . Where did you get her?

If the numbers you mentioned are the serial number plate on base of machine front, then your Singer Sphynx was made in 1899. Here is the page to identify the year - scroll to the bottom where the 8 digit serial numbers are listed, just before Singer began adding alphabet letters in front of the numbers. |
Wow what a beautiful machine.
she's beautiful!! TR3 Automotive finisher will shine and clean her without scratching. Be a little gentle on the decals. I could not believe the amount of brown yuk that came off of my Singer!
Love her, so very pretty

I saw one like it at a resale shop on Sat. The shop wanted $500!, so you got a good price for her!

the belts? are there different sizes? that i need to worrie about? Thank you much I love help and everyone is the best at that.
Usually there is a number plate on the front and if you go to datemysinger.com it will tell you the age and where it was made. I did this with two that I have and found out they were from 1904 and 1924, years my grandmother and Dad were born.
How do I find out where my machine was made? I could not get datemysinger.com to come up on the web but i do know she was 1899. Thank you kindly
Wow. love your treadle.
She's such a beauty!

I emailed singer and this is there response, Our records show that serial # 16297125 belongs to Singer Model 15
manufactured on July 6, 1899 in Clydebank, Scotland now I want to know what or who brought her here |
The decal of the Memphis Sphinx was not used until after the turn from 1800s to 190s check Alex Askerof- www.sewalot.com- he has collected and reserched extensively on sewing machine history and is a great resource
