need some tension help with my Singer 99K

When I sew on my 99K I have been noticing that it sometimes pulls the fabric colour into the stitch. This is really noticeable when I am using white thread. It doesn't affect the stitch length but looks odd. I am usually just piecing on this machine so it doesn't really matter, but it is bugging me. I have tried adjusting the tension but that doesn't do anything to fix the problem.
I love this little machine, it runs so smoothly. I bought it about 6 months ago and it was in great shape. I downloaded the manual, cleaned and oiled it. I really don't want to have to have it serviced and I figure someone here can help me out. Any tips would be welcome.

Could you be a little more specific about what you mean? Thanks!

Sorry I can't post a picture, I have no idea how to do it. I will try to describe it better though. When I sew a 1/4 " seam joining two square together, if one is a darker fabric the needle will sometimes pull fibers up to the top of the lighter fabric. The seam is okay but when you look at it you can see the darker fibers on top. I know this sounds like a tension issue but I have played with the tension and it still does it.

Change the needle and see if that helps.

might need to check the needle size when you change the needle.

It sounds of it might be the needle and not the tension. What size needle are you using? Maybe a smaller needle might help.

It sounds like the needle , it might not be sharp any more.

Hi, It sounds to me like you might have a little bur on the needle (a sharp bit that is sticking out)
and sometimes it grabs the fabric and pulls it through so that the colour is showing on the other
side. If not, it could be a small bur on the hook and base (the round thingy that houses the bobbin)
and it is catching the thread as it loops around the bobbin thread to form a stitch. This only needs
to be minute but will need to be filed very carefully until it is quite smooth. Good luck with it - you
don't want to have to buy a new hook and base, they are a bit expensive and hard to find. A very
fine nail-file might be enough and fine sandpaper to finish it off. Be very gentle. Fingers crossed.
A small sharp bit sticking out would catch the thread and take it to the other side causing the other
colour to show. Good luck with it. lol Gleniveve
