and she was cheap, too. I was shocked when I opened the case. She has faint pin scratches on the S for Singer, and a few minor dings elsewhere. The front edge is just starting to show wear. So she was used, but not for much I don't believe. So far no lint but no oil either.

Makitmama, beautiful 128! I'd make that baby a HC for sure! With the spoked HW, it will make an awesome HC. Why worry about wiring!

She is gorgeous. I would totally turn her into a hand-crank.

It is gorgeous! I'm partial - I turned my 128 La Vencedora into a hand crank and I love it. It's pretty to look at and runs beautifully that way - such nice seams.
I still have a bag of parts - motor (still working I believe, never tested it as I wanted a hand crank from the beginning,) light, knee bar someday they may end up on ebay but for now live in my work room with all the rest of my spare parts.

Ok, I think I am convinced. Now I need a vintage hand crank... It would just seem wrong to put a Chinese crank on such a beautiful machine. Should I buy another 127/28 that is crank to get one?

Gorgeous machine, I would vote to have you rewire it.

One of the prettiest I've seen!

Getting a vintage HC is going to be hard to do. You can start watching e-bay, but if you see one they are usually pretty pricey! You can watch for any parts/donor machine that has a HC still attached. I'd get the Chinese one and just paint black over the Chinese characters! I have the Chinese one on my Singer 15-88 treadle. The HC looks great and works great.
