New owner needing web sites/info
Where is the best place to get instruction and parts for the featherweight? I went through several ebay postings before I settled on my FW. One ad ran the serial number that did not exist and when he corrected one letter in the number it still did not exist! The other machine I bid on was in the 50's but it looked real worn and tired. Finally...I think I made a good choice....I have settled on one that is a 1946 model and in great condition. However, it has no manual. I hope it is what they say and sews as well as they stated....will see when it arrives!

Graham Forsdyke is a well respected expert on Featherweights. His website is: http://singer-featherweight.com/.
He frequently contributes to the Featherweight Yahoo group and may be a moderator there. That forum is a great resource. Mr. Forsdyke restores Featherweights and is knowledgeable about the parts. He never seems to mind answering questions and helping people. I think April1930s.com is a fun site if you are looking for FW attachments and pictures of them in action. Enjoy your FW! Dayle |
Another website for featherweight information/parts is Sew-Classic. They have great customer service.
Here's the link. http://www.sew-classic.com/ |
Thank you for the manual site....looking for some info on keeping her clean and shiny now!

Thanks for the link to sew-classic...I checked out her site...looks great for supplies for oil and grease...

I've had my "new" featherweight a couple of years now and she is a dream to sew on and just keeps on going no matter what...heavy denim, stretch velvet, regular quilting cotton, doesn't matter. And she is easily moved from one spot to another.

Dayle, I will check out the site....thanks so much! I have ordered a book...the perfect portable....that should help!

Hi...read your post....how do clean the FW? I mean the outside to keep it shiny?
