Pictures of the new girl

Here is the 15-91 I got a week ago for $20. I took her out of the cabinet, and my DH fixed her bare wires (yikes!) Then my sweetheart made a cutout to fit my machines in...so great! He made it long enough to fit the 401a, so there is a little extra space when the 15-91 is in. He built me the cabinet when I asked for a little bookcase. Now it's perfect for me! I bought a new bobbin case from sew-classic and cleaned her up. She runs well and I'm excited to get more proficient at free motion quilting. The one thing I've noticed is that her bobbin shuttle kind of rattles. Is this common or is there a fix I can do? Anyway, here she is!!

What a sweet DH you have...oh yes, and the new girl looks lovely dressed in her new wiring.
|
I love your setup there. Did your husband build that great cabinet and desk? If so, he is good. Love your sign too, "just set it down wherever." Too funny.
|
What a cool setup.
|
Very cool! Your DH is a keeper. Have you named her?
|
love your machine. and where she is nice setup there you have. i have one like it. love to sew on it .the motor burned up on it and took me along time to find another one. ( motor). and it still sews purfect. you will love it i am sure.. enjoy

Glad you have your machine humming along - is that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth overseeing your work?
|
Oh, wow. Such a sweet setup! I know you'll love FMQ with her. It seems so easy with a 15-91. And yes, my BC clatters a little too.
|
Very nice set up. I think you will have wonderful times there!

Lyncat,
I'd love to see your machine but the pics are just way to big for my dial up to load. As for the bobbin case clattering several of my machines that use the Class 15 style bobbin rattle. My HOTHER is the noisiest. Joe |
Looks like my Mama's sewing machine--I learned to sew on it.
|
Very nice machine and sewing area!
|
I think the noise is normal, and your new machine is a beauty. I love the way you have things set up. Great find and judos to DH for getting you all fixed up in style!
|
That is one GREAT setup!!! :) And a centennial - how beautiful!
The bobbin rattle would probably disappear with a magic genie bobbin washer. (and any problem with tiny snarls and birds nests on the back of your quilts would, too) |
I was donated a 15-91 and was so excited, until later when I had tome to really examine her, only to find out that there is a gaping hole down there, no bobbin hook, nocase and no bobbin, naturally, nothing to hole it. The case and the bobbin are easy to replace, not so the hook. So, she sits in the foyer, useless for now. I do have a 15-90 in a Queen Ann cabinet and she sews beautifully. I could rob her, I suppose, but am reluctant to displace her from her rightful home.

Donna, here's an auction for all the parts except the bobbin case - clamp, bracket, hook, screws. I'd snipe this! :)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SINGER-SEWIN...item2a2397a2c9 The bobbin case is going to be cheap and easy to find. :) |
Here's another one that also includes the bobbin, but the Buy It Now price is too high, IMO - as many of these machines as there are around, parts are as common as toast.
I might email the seller and offer him $25 for it - if he accepts, you'll have a complete set at a fair price. If he doesn't, then there'll be another set along momentarily. :) http://www.ebay.com/itm/SINGER-SEWIN...item53ee402f6b |
Wow only $20.!!! How wonderful.

Your machine is very pretty. I have a 15-91 and the stitch is as good,if not better, than my new computerized machine. I love to sew with the old mechanical machines. I have not noticed the bobbin in my 15-91 rattling. These old machines are great.
