Jan came to visit and we went to the Tenn Toga in Winchester Tn for three day. My wife does not sew so we made her a quilt. This was the project this year and was taught by Di, our host of the toga every year. Jan pieced on a Singer 28 with original HC and I used a Frister and Rossmann HC. Jan took the finished top back home to TX and used her long arm to quilt it. My wife loves the quilt and we had fun making it. Jan and I are looking forward to the Toga next August.

Skip, what a great quilt! I love purple, the carpenter's pattern, and an interesting backing is always a plus.

Thank you, JudyTheSewer! My scrap quilts usually have a scrappy binding, it helps to tie it all together.

I love making scrap quilts, currently working on a String Star quilt.

Here is the potholder quilt I've been working on. Sewing groups made them during the Civil war for wounded soldiers in the hospital. They would agree on a size, piece, quilt, and bind them then whipstitch them together when the group met. Many of the wounded died and were buried with their quilt so we don't see many of them.
Mine is all different patterns and sizes. I keep making customized blocks to fill in. There is a 3 x 4 inch hole right in the center that my rescued doggie puts her head through to keep an eye on me while I stitch. |
