red eye sewing machine attachments
 

I have a very pretty red eye sewing machine that I bought. Later I looked up the serial number on it and found out it was made in the same month as my birthday. What a nice surprise that was. My husband has the machine now running good and I have it set up in my sewing room. Been looking for sewing machine attachments for it. But it takes the back clamp attachments and they are a little harder to find. Been hoping I can find some kind of adapter that will let me use side clamp attachments. But so far no luck with that. But older machines have a special beauty about them with all their decals and fancy metal plates. That I just can't help but love the way they look.

It seems like you could drop in a replacement presser bar pretty easily on the 66. As I recall there was a screw-in bushing and tension spring on top that just backed out, a sort of a bar just behind the face plate with a little cheese-headed screw that your machine screwdriver ought to have no trouble with, and you would pull all of the business off the business end so it pulls up and out. The machines after the 66-1 had a side clamp, and all you had to do was scrounge a presser bar off of one that was already shot for sewing, because the presser bar wasn't a high-failure item you could always lay hold of a good one. I found back clamp on ebay...they weren't too pricey....

I have most of the feet and attachments for my 66-1. What I need a treadle cabinet for it.

And I did it backwards. I got the attachments first then found a machine for them. LOL

I have thought of that but for some reason i would like to keep the machine in its original condition.
Don't know why but it seams a shame to change it. Sounds crazy i know but that is how i feel.

Not crazy a bit! Last one I did she had me throw the old parts in the drawer so she could put it back if she ever wanted to. Merry Christmas! Chaz

HELP ME! What is a red eye sewing machine? Is that a brand name?

It's a Singer. An old Singer, some have motors that were added later or are used as treadle machines. The decal sort of looks like a red eye from a distance so the are commonly referred to as Red Eyes.

Can you post a picture, I have some old attachments that I have gathered when I have aquired other parts and pieces and some of them may work for you. But need to see something to use as a reference.
