Rescued Machines

Yard sale find. Both for $5.00. Not the best but think I can restore the one in the cabinet. The other is probably a lost cause but needed the foot control for the one in the cabinet plus any parts I can salvage.

I really hate to see machines all rusted up like that. What a shame. But at least you can save one of them.

Congrats on the great finds! Looking forward to seeing her after all cleaned up! :)

Kinda glad I didn't get that rusted up one. I'd be working on it doing my utmost to refurb it. Been there ... done that.

Take everything off you can. The rusted pieces can be helped with Evapo-Rust.

The 66 looks like it will clean up well.

According to ISMACS, they are both model 15's. That's good because I can exchange parts if I can salvage anything. The rusted one is from 1952 and if I remember correctly the on in the cabinet is frim 1954.

That looks so labor-intensive. You are so brave. It does make me sad to see machines like that when I come across one. I would never be able to do what you are doing to save one. I have an old one I bought that is in a great-need of repair. I'm hoping it won't be over my head to try to do it. I'm glad you and others do save them, though.
