Sewing Machine moviing???????
I am so tired of my sewing machine moving around while I'm quilting. Has anyone found a way to attach a machine to a table permanetly so it will not move any more?
New rubber feet on the machine bottom? None of mine seem to move at all when sewing...even my most lightest machine.
What kind of sewing machine are you using? I have used pieces of a yoga mat and the non-slip drawer liners.
I put the non-slip drawer liner under mine like CarolineS does. Works great!
you can put a piece of rubbermaid shelf liner, its' kind of rubbery, works great and you can get it at a $1 store
Shelf liner is the key to everything. Under your machine. Under the pedal. Use a square of it to help open tight jars. Wrap it around your mower handle to stop the vibrations. I suppose you could even line a shelf with it although I never have.
My question is, what kind of table are you using? Does it vibrate or move when you sew? If so, that is your problem, not the machine. I do have a piece of rubberized stuff that I put under my machine when I have to sew on a card table, but the card table bounces terribly, so I don't do it very often.

The only time I really ever had trouble with my sewing machine moving was while sewing at a quilt shop that had plastic tables and the tables were all slightly bowed. Every other place my machine is fine. So maybe it's the table and not your machine.
I have the same problem.. It just struck me .... I am going to try some of thegridded (waffle-like) shelf liner. I used it under an area rug to keep it from moving and it helped a lot.
I'm using one of those fold up tables that I purchased from Walmart, no the table dosen't bounce or move, I have put the walffle mat under the machine, nothing seems to help, I considered drilling holes in the table and the sewing machine case until I discovered that the table has two layers of plastic.I need some way to stableize the machine ( It is a Simplicity Quilter's Classic,) the machines sews bueatifly Just can"tget it to stay still while I'm quilting.

And/all of my machines bounce around when I sew on a folding plastic table. But not on a solid wood one.

That has to do with the table, I tried sewing on one years ago, it was frustrating. |
One of the rubber feet was missing under mine, so I used on of those round felt thing that are stickie on one side and put it were the foot was missing. Works good.

My advice--if you have a 'handy husband' go to a yard sale and buy a cheap wooden table and turn him loose with it, measure it, fit the machine into a custom hole; this might take both of you working on a schematic (with you showing him all the possibilities where it might not work, or might work) and him doing the grunt work (electric saw, screw driver, etc.)....Keep us posted--my feeling is, if you are using a plastic table, that is your problem....JMHO. Try putting a small area rug with the rubberized stuff on the bottom under the machine. It will help.

I know where your coming from. My husband just put my machines in a old stand . Love it , it was not all the way down like the machine that was in there but it dos not move any more had to move my set up and get a block to put the foot on I'm not tall lol it all works gl in find your way
Same idea as everyone else, but I use the anti rug slip stuff, thicker than the drawer liner, works great!
I had one of those bath mats that have suction cups on the back. Did not like it in the shower. Have had it for years. The lite bulb went off one day and I put it under my sewing machine. Works great.
heavy duty self stick velcro . sometimes you just have to use the table you have. It will still vibrat some but with 4 pieces of velcro as feet it works.
personally I think the problem is the table. Try putting the machine on a heavier table with the waffle mat underneath, and see. There are some 'portable' type sewing machine tables. Our LQS has one they use. You can always use the folding table to extend the other one. I had trouble with the machine moving, but the waffle shelf liner did the trick for my petal and the machine. I had trouble with a noisy machine and tried a huge mouse pad. It cut down the noise and the movement.
I've already posted that my machines jump around a lot when on my 6' long folding table. But go figure - I put it on a wooden TV table - - - and no jiggling at all. In my opinion it looks like it would be the other way round.
