Singer 401A

Can someone tell me what needles to use in a Singer 401A?
Can I use Schmetz?
TIA, Linda

All Singers of that age use a 15x1 needle. Yes, you can use Schmetz.

Yes, you can use a Schmetz or Singer or any other Singer compatible needle. I have a 401, and I use Schmetz and Singer. I use size 11, 14, and sometimes 16 Singer needles, and I use the Schmetz needles equal in size.

The 401s take the standard 15x1 needles. The brand makes no difference as long as it's the correct size and is a good needle.

I am needing the metal bobbins #66 and the 15 x 1 needles( these have a long groove on the needle) I just bought a fantastic Singer 401A sewing machine: it only has one needle, bobbin and doesn"t have a spool holder. Any help is appreciated.

The best Class 66 bobbins I've found are at Sew-Classic: { http://www.shop.sew-classic.com/Bobb...CBN-172222.htm }.

You can get 15x1 needles just about any where that sells needles. Sew-Classic has them, but then so does Jo-Ann Fabrics and other places. They are not hard to find.
