Singer 630

Okay, there is a Singer 630, has lots of attachments original manual, when I stopped to look at it she thought she wanted $20 for it. It is in a cabinet, very plain.

Should I or Shouldn't I?

The garage sale starts at 11am cdt.

Don't know much about the 630. Hopefully someone will speak up that has some knowledge. Also you might google it. Although at $20, you couldn't lose much, right????

OK nellybelle/Carol, where's the pic of the Singer 630 you just got home? The attachments and cabinet are worth the price even if the machine is junque.

Touch and Sew. Most likely a parts or project machine unless lovingly maintained.

Well, it is still at the garage sale. Nanamoms suggested my "googling" it. I did that and the first thing I saw was
"plastic" -- decided I will keep my money and wait for something better to come along.
I have been reading all about "301"s and so I have put that at the top of my list. I already have a FW and a Bernina 830.

Now if it was a 603 that is a horse of a different color!I love my 603 for the decorative stitches.

In the 600 series machines the 620 was the last machine to have metal gears, however, the change over to plastic also started with the 620. If you run across one you might want to look under the hood before you buy since some have metal and some have plastic gears.

I hope you can find a 301.........I found mine (all tan color) at a Salvation Army store.........in the cabinet, for $32.00.......had NO items with it, but I think the cabinet was almost worth the price...........got it home, cleaned it up, and it sews like a charm............very quiet, too..........I have been usuing it a lot, have it sitting beside my Bernina 630, and actually using the 301 a lot (saves some miles on the Bernina too). I would love for it to be a burgandy color, keep thinking I could "paint" it........??

I am late to this, but there is a Singer 600 on c/l in my area, in the cabinet for 60 dollars. Says it works, has attachments, and manuals. he says this was the last model to have all metal gears.

Sounds like a good deal . . . But, I just spent $20 on the 248 (which I still haven't gotten the tension correct) and I am BROKE! lol . .

thoughts?
