Is it a Singer 99?

This is posted on my local classifieds. I'm wondering whether it is a 99?

Judy,

No, it's not a 99, it's a 15. Look at the tension on the face plate. Only the 15s had the tension there.

Am I seeing things, or have they stuck a bobbin on the tension discs?

It does look odd and when you enlarge it just goes blurry. Looks like a 15 to me, too.

It is a Singer 15. Horrible pictures, I agree with Miriam.

Definitely a Singer Model 15, one of the best vintage machines. It's straight stitch, a good piecer, and excellent for free motion quilting (it has a vertical bobbin) and quilting with a walking foot. I know someone who uses hers on a quilting frame to free motion quilt. It's a sweet machine, and certainly worth having. I have one and love it, and it came with a note from it's first owner saying she hoped the person buying this machine would love it as much as she did. I do! It's a keeper.

Update: I did purchase it for $10 (SCORE!) That wasn't a bobbin on the tension knob, just the light shining a certain way and a bad picture.

Wow, $10, what a great buy! Congrats
