Yes!!

I bought a Singer Scholastic 717 in 2007. It is all metal inside. I know this, as I messed up some gears and had to have the motor and gears replaced...it was all metal. It's a workhorse, goes through at least 6 layers of denim, has made tons of clothing, a quilted coat, and is doing a quilt top right now. I paid $75 for this, and it's been worth every penny and more. It's 41 years old, and outworking the new Brother I have too.

I pick up the old Singer Athenas when I find them in working condition and the price is right. It was the first electronically controlled sewing machine, and people go a little cuckoo for them.
