i cannot for the life of me get the elevator throat plate to pop up.

and now the left hand screw on the plate that holds the level is mounting stalwart resistance to removal.

this is the fun part right? right. blergh.

If you turn the machine on its back, there are places to oil. All of the joints between the lever and the elevator plate. Get some triflow in there, and try to work it gently back and forth, or let it sit a couple of hours to overnight, then try to work it. The 403 I had was similar at first.

It may not be the fun part, but it sure is a rewarding part. :)

i really think there's something wrong here. it's just not a lubrication issue. something mechanical is blocking the lever.

i can't figure it out. it probably needs to go into the shop to be worked on by someone who knows how these things work.

darn it.
