Someone mentioned a Penguin foot?

I was wondering about that and some other things that have been mentioned here and I was thinking that because I still do not know what the heck I am doing and what a lot of these things are that I may be waltzing right past some real goodies that should be purchased, cherished and or used.

SO what are some of the highly desirable items besides the sewing machines themselves I should always be on the alert for?

Penguin walking foot?
keyhole templates for the rotaries?

I have bought some in Australia on eBay, including 1 from Britain with all the discs. Some are missing the bakelite shell, others the attachment screw and others with broken cases. I made a full set up from all of them. They were all reasonably priced too.

I bought three last week. Only the first has arrived, and it's missing the shell and 9 out of the 10 cams. Still, works really well with that walking foot. Tested on a treadle 201.

Other 2 have what looks like a full set of cams, so like heljoy I'll be able to make one complete.

Not in the USA!

Note: incomplete sets are often worth a lot less unless you get the peice that is usually lost. Look fir attacment screws and adjustment tools that should be there. Many multi part units will be missing parts too. If you get them real cheap its not a big deal. Many sellers have know clue if they have a complete set

In the $100 and way up group
Penguin foot, Single and double thread embroidery attachments. Large monogrammer full set cams (not unit, they are very easy to get). Fashion Aids case. Fagotter W unit, foot and stripper-foot being hardest too get

Under $100 uncommon
Multi purpose foot, guide foot w guides, singercraft extensions, darning/hooping foot, side mount zigzag, axtra cam sets for zigzag yellow white and blue (blue is rarest). Pinker attachment

Just what I can think of for singer off the top of my head. Not real old items though

Oh my gosh, now I need to go and look up all of these because I haven't a clue what they are or what they look like or what they do for that matter. Just guessing on some of them from their names. Thanks for posting all of these for us newbies...

If you have one without its shell, could it actually be part 160990 which doesn't have a shell? Check out Sid's blog:

I have that zigzag foot. I got it in a box of attachments and had no idea what it was until I tried it out on one of my old singers. Really cool the way it moves the material to make the zigzag!
