Sparton Sewing Machine

My girlfriend found in her Mom's closet a Sparton sewing machine. Can anyone tell me about this machine? It looks like a bigger 221 singer machine.

Thank you

nice little machine you can find more info by searching int the top of the screen about an inch below log out there is a white space - type in Singer Spartan - then hit the magnifying glass and see what comes up.

It is just a heavy little 3/4 sized machine - it was considered a portable machine so usually found in a case - some times found in a cabinet. Kind of a kick start - here is link with info about 3/4 size machines:

It is a less expensive version of the Singer 99 3/4 machine. The model number is 192 There is no light fixture or on/off switch. The cords are hard wired into the motor. It takes class 66 bobbins. They came in a black plastic base with no lid and the manual was all of 4 pages. They weigh about 20 or so pounds. Nice little no frills machine that uses short shank feet.

Thank you so much to both of you that replied. I will pass this information to her. Merry Christmas!

I hav a Spartan sewing machine which is a 3/4 size machine. Mine looks and sews like a stripped down Singer 99. I bought mine on ebay for about $30. It is heavier than a feather weight and larger. My sews as good as my 99 which I hve had for 40 years. I use mine in rotation with my other machines. I am very pleased with it.

I gave one to the DGDs to learn to sew - I put a finger guard on it. They thought that thing was the cutest machine on the planet until they saw the Cinderella...

I have one and love it. It's always out and threaded up for that little quick fix that inevitably comes along! She's a great little machine.
