Now that is a curiosity. I wonder if that is what it really is. Will be watching to see who knows.

The fingers hold the sock in place and you darn or free motion stitch the holes. Sorry, I 'd just buy some new socks. LOL.

I put trendle sewing machine stocking darner in my such engine and it brought up several images of it. It show the stocking rolled up and hooked under the curve or hooks. which make the stocking flat in the area you want to darn. then you move it free motion under your foot. Does the make sense?

Heart of Dixie is correct. I have this attachment and many vintage machines. It is intended for sock darning (feed dogs down or covered, stitch length at zero, work in a vertical and then horizontal pattern). However, it is also good for darning such things as jeans and good for thread painting.

I have one of these in the box but I have never used it. I got it more of a curiosity. However, I remember my grandmother darning socks by hand when I was little. She had this little bulb-like thing she stuck inside. Having raised two kids as a single mom (widow) during the depression, she was always thrifty. Now that I think about it, I wonder why she didn't use one of these. She had a Singer 66 and certaintly could have.

skyangel your grandmother used a darning bulb instead of that thing for the sewing machine because it was easier, as how I know.

I darn socks ALL THE TIME!! As I pitch them towards the garbage can, I say, "Darn sock!"

I tend to amuse myself...NOT a difficult task! ;)

I have never found a way to darn a sock and have it 'feel' as good as one with holes still in it. Darn socks...
