Unsure how to mount my 1920's singer to table?
 

I have been trying to research about my machine. It seems to that I am missing a piece that helps hold machine to table when it sit in it's section so tables lid can close. I can not put the machine away in table so it sits on table. I am wondering if anyone knows about this type of machine. Singer 1920's Sewing Machine Model 127-3 (Serial #G7945540) with table & treadle model #2. This gem was born in March of 1920 in Elizabeth NJ. Thanks for your time.:D

I think you have everything you need. These machines are held by a hinge pin. From the second photo I can see the hinges attached to the table behind the machine. When you take the machine out, there should be a short peg that swings from that. On the third photo, you can see the grub screw at the lower left. Loosen that and there is a hole the peg from the hinge will go into on each end of the machine.

Slide the pegs into the holes and then tighten the grub screw to hold in place. It is not as easy as it sounds with these heavy machines so if you have a pair of helping hands it does make it a bit easier, at least I think it would but cannot get my kitties to help me out with this.

In your third pic there is a small screw on the left. With the machine on the hinge pins that are attached to the cabinet, tilt it back and tighten the screw. There should be another screw on the right to tighten. They prevent the machine from sliding off the hinges when you lower the machine into the cabinet. I hope this helps- if not I'm sure someone can post pics to show how to do it.

When I get ready to put a machine in my cabinet I use a rubber band to hold the hinge pins up so that I can put the machine on them, next tighten the grub screws that are shown in your 3rd picture. Cut the rubber band when you're done.

That's a good idea! I usually get frustrated and take off the entire hinge, put them on the machine, then put the whole thing back in the cabinet since I don't have a 3rd hand. :)

Sorry to hijack this thread, but my question is similar...does a 401 use only hinge pins with the screws when put in a desk? It seems amazing that such heavy machines can be supported in such a way. I am missing a screw to complete my setup, but I ordered 2 new ones from sew classic today.
