Valuable W&W 9 bobbins
You may not believe this - I still find it hard to, but I had been watching an ebay auction for 5 W&W 9 bobbins. The photos showed they were the bagel or donut type. After 31 bids, they sold last night for $255.00 and $5.35 shipping. So I went to look an see how many of those bobbins were in my wooden box of attachments. I have eight of them!
Anyway, I know they are hard to find but never would have thought they were that valuable. |
Let's see, at $51.00 each, you're sitting on over $400....hello, e-bay???? Sounds like a good way to put a little money back in your pocket...:)

WHAT!!!???? is that Really worth that much or are people just Stupid!

icon17,
Some people are just plain STUPID. They get an attitude that they just must have that object and won't quit bidding. Seen it lots of times. Joe |
What do these look like and what machine do they go on? I really want to know. LOL
|
Glenda,
They fit the Wheeler & Wilson #9 and the Singer 9W machines, amongst others. Instead of being flat on the sides like a regular Class 15 bobbin or a 221 / 301 bobbin, the sides are curved. The look just like a miniature bagel or donut. Joe |
Glenda,
I thought I had a pic of the donut bobbin, but I don't. Here is a GW auction for a Singer 9W. Look at the fourth pic down on the right side. That is the curved bobbin we are talking about. http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem...temID=11260155 Joe |
Scared the dickens out of me. I bought a WW9 to refurbish. Got up immediately to check that it had the bobbin. Yeeea! It' there. Will guard it with my life. Looks like the bobbin is worth more than I paid for the machine :)

Not sure if this will work, but will try to attach the link to the ebay auction showing the pictures.

If I had some of those bobbins, I'd just have to get a machine that uses them.

They also fit a Wheeler and Wilson #8, which I have. No bobbins, I bid up to $65 and then sat back and watched the madness. I stopped into the small mom and pop sewing store that has been owned by the same family for 3 generations and just asked if they happen to have any bobbins, Yes they did and I got it for $5. They even said I can come and look at what else they may have in the dungeon the next time I come in. I love people who never throw something out just because it is old.

I'll have to go thru my sewing treasures. I have to get rid of any old sewing items as you never know if it will be useful or valuable.

Wow, I could have had 4-5 of these for $3 about a month ago. I was at an estate sale where they had a W&W9 machine for sale (beautiful, but too much for me). They also had a 60's Kenmore (didn't need that) and in another room, I found a couple of baggies of sewing stuff for $3 eash. One had several old bobbins in it at I pointed out to the sellers, looked like they went to the W&W machine, and we looked at the one in the machine drawer, yes it was the same. So they put them in the machine drawer. Whoever bought it should thank me.
