You see, in the 1940's Singer came out with the Singer Model 15.

Looks good, but for one thing... The Model 15 has been around since the 1879. :) http://www.sewalot.com/singer_through_the_ages.htm

There's even a fiddle bed version.

That article is also wrong though too, in that it says (under the 1934 improved Model 15 section) that the model 15 got reverse in the 50s. I have 2 model 15s that have reverse, and neither is as new as that. My oldest one is a 1936, so reverse is as least as old as that.

Wow - very polite!

Heh, I thought it might have been a little too snarky, but people should feel free to take it and modify it if they want to try and edumacate people on these machines.

Maybe I'll make a bunch of these letters so we can carpet bomb the CL sellers who don't know what they're doing!

Bah. Well, at least my letter's more accurate than their information! Didn't most of the 15 clones come about in the 40's? I was taking a stab at when the highest density of the machines started to show up.

It would be good to have accurate info to carpet bomb now wouldn't it...

Makes one wonder how they arrive at the asking price. Jacquie is right, not much shoe repairing going on anymore. The only thing it might be used for is harness repairs. But for that money one could buy a modern machine to do that job. My OSMG says that lots of those old shoe and harness machines (for example Singer 29-4) are so worn out that they can't be returned to useful status without new parts and the parts are not available.
