OK, Here are some of my SS/ZZ Japanese badged machines:

This is our first official rescue. My wife found it on the curb, the case all busted to pieces. I fixed that, put in a bobbin case, threaded it up and it sewed. It's a dedicated left needle straight stitch and I have an off set straight stitch foot for it.
It's marked J-A 18 and the chart from the Yahoo Japanese machine group says that is Riccar.

This is one of the best general use SS/ZZ machines we have. We have more attachments for it alone than just about any other machine.

I have a full compliment of accessories, and feet as well as the owners manual with this one.
It's marked SANSHIN on the underside of the bed. No J-A numbers anywhere.

This machine came with only a piping foot on it. It's a SS only machine.

This machine is one my boss owns - it is only straight stitch - very nice machine and willing to sew anything - he loves to sew costumes for plays.
