No1jan: I have a machine just like this one. It was my mothers and the first machine I ever sewed on. I am soon going to have a gentleman come to my house to clean oil and get it working again for me.

I wonder how many pages we have to show before they will sticky this at the top of the Main board? This thread definitely deserves to be stickied!

I agree, do you have to contact the Admin Billy? How does that work. Anyone have any ideas?

I think Admin or a moderator has to 'sticky' a topic to keep it at the top of the board...

I find myself getting "sucked in" to the vintage sewing machine world and loving it. My first vintage machine is my great grandmother's Singer treadle (no pictures yet) that dates to 1906.

About a year ago, I acquired my little Featherweight from eBay. She's in great condition and dates to October 28. 1947. She's already pieced 6 quilts.

My last acquisition is a Singer 15-88 (I think) that dates to 1956. The machine itself is in pretty good shape, but the cabinet was termite-ridden and had to be discarded.

I just bought "Louise" after seeing her advertised on Craigs List. She was a real bargain at $50 which included the cabinet, lots of attachments, 2 manuals and 40 assorted Singer needles. I emailed the Singer folks with the model and serial number to get a little more info on her. The lady I bought from said it was originally bought in 1948 by her great aunt. It says "Made in Canada" on the top of the head. I got a reply from Singer this morning and they said this machine was manufactured in Oct. of 1948 in Clydebank, Scotland. The Canada part means even more to me because my maternal grandmother came from Ontario.

Now I have a question. I want to take her in for a checkup and have her nether regions cleaned and oiled. I got the head out of the cabinet with no problems but I can't figure out how to remove the foot control. In picture 2 you can see the hole where the cord runs through that small hole in the side of the machine bed. What do I do next?? Help

Billy i don't know if you want to see all the machines i have ! I have about 15 or 16. I have a Kenmore, White, Rex, A Vogue-stitch, a Singer serger, and a Brother ( but we won't talk about that one i don't like it !) The rest are vintage Singers From 1910-1950's and 60's! Plus my husband does upholstery and has a Consew 225, 226, and a 226 Long Arm which is 36 inches long! He also has a Juki LU 562, and his dad's Singer 111w-155 from 1950. We like sewing machines can you tell! hee hee!
